I discovered Masters of Orion[MOO] two days ago and liked the idea and concept of a Galactic TBS
though Rath doesn't like spending money. I found this rebirth of the game decided to try it out.
Positive
Upon starting up it had an impressive looking home screen and a nice solid menu.
Graphics are very nice and colors are easy on the eyes(would make a great game for binge playing)
Moving around is simple enough left click to select units right click to move them all the interfaces work like they should and so far no: lag, glitches, crashes, clashes, or viruses(Though I haven't played online)
A WIDE range of research projects
MASSIVE maps
A race choice with each race having it's own unique properties.
Custom ship making!!! (Love this feature)
Negative
To say Free Orion was beginner friendly would be lying. I started the game without reading the guide thinking there would be a tutorial, but I was wrong.
The AI seems to be a little redundant at times traveling to systems just to sit for turn after turn then leaving doing absolutely nothing.
The mouse tends to have a tail effect when playing(That may just be me, not really a negative either)
They have some K.I.S.S thing that I think they have already missed. Or I'm just being absurdly stupid.
