Marriage cold feet

If you arrange a wedding at the temple of mara in riften, I was wondering, what happens if you get cold feet and say, "stop the wedding, I can't go through with this"? Is it possible to approach the rejected bride and propose again? I know I have never tried.

I've never done it myself so I don't know. For my current character, I've got two potential mates in mind, so I might just make a rom-com out of the situation and dump one for the other at the last minute. It'll be funny if the second partner is actually present at the wedding so I can make the switch there and then!
