Mace or warhammer decapitation

When the devastating blow or savage strike perk is selected, is it possible to decapitate an opponent when wielding a mace or warhammer? I have never tried, so I don't know for sure. If it is, it would kind of defy realistic accuracy, to me at least. Lol
