So what is your favourite? It took me ages to get the Dawnguard Rune Shield and I really thought I would love it. For me though it drains my stamina way to quickly (I shield bash often) and I find casting Stendarr' Aura before battle is way more effective when fighting undead.

So my favourite is easily Auriel's Shield, it looks cool and has a very useful ability.

Shield of Ysgrammor. More Magic Resistance is almost always useful.

I really like the Targe of the Blooded. Although one usually encounters it past it's usefulness, it still remains to be one of the most unique pieces of equipment I have encountered.

    Plus it looks Badass.

For the most part, I'm not a shield user except to help myself level up. Maybe I'll try the Aetherial shield this time. Currently I have a found dragonscale shield that offers 70% frost resistance. Improved to legendary, it works quite well. Funny, this character seems to come across some majorly powerful stuff that none of my other characters ever lucked into.

Targe. Goes great with Miraak's Staff. Shield bash them back into the tentacles. Slow Time shout to bash people to bits while they are being poisoned. Targe is a total BEAST with the right build and combat strategy imo.

Perhaps I will have to give the Targe another run. Ive only used it once for a fairly limited time and I'm sure that was before I even knew that it caused bleeding damage. It does look awesome and would suit my Orc really well.

I really wanted to say Spellbreaker, just because I enjoy wards more than most people. Wards in general are weak, and the ward on Spellbreaker is particularly weak. But I love the concept of them. They've also saved me from being pushed off cliffs and precipices by Draugr more times than I could easily count.

So if you use a shield and you find yourself dealing with high level draugr often, Spellbreaker's probably a good choice.

However! I went with the Targe of the Blooded. For aesthetic reasons entirely. My thought process here is three-fold, let me walk you through it.

1: Targe of the Blooded looks great.
2: Spellbreaker looks like Peryite's satellite TV dish.
3: I am ultimately a very shallow person.

Aetherial shield... To the point that I stopped abusing it with shield bashing. Helps me avoid being swarmed by falmer.

I love Spellbreaker, I love its Dwarven look and I love the enchantment it has. Plus it reminds me of those big thingies in the Dwarven Ruins where you press the buttons and the things on the wall spin and the light hits it and the machine changes. Yeah. :D

Ive never had that shield to be honest. I just cant go past the crown for some reason. Maybe one day I will be able to resist and try that shield or staff.... maybe...

I once felt the same and forged the crown. In my latest build, went for the shield in tandem with spell breaker.

I wanna do that Aetherium Wars quest again with a different character but it takes so long to get to that end part and it's quite challenging at the end.

I like the Shield of Ysgramor for the added health and magic resistance. I have used Spellbreaker on my mage to protect from dragons. It worked out well.

That is a really specific combat strategy - and really, specifically awesome! I need to do this. Spray tentacles; bash opponent into tentacles; slow time, watch and enjoy.

The one you get from Elisif, or the lame one you can take from the racks in Brinewater Grotto? I'd hate to make any assumptions about your answer. :)

Hmm...I don't think I've ever seen the one in Brinewater. Is it enchanted also? I was talking about the one you get as a reward for the Wolf Queen quest. It's been a while, but I recall it to have a pretty decent resist magic enchantment.

There is no greater honor for a Nord than to wield the Shield of Ysgramor.
