Ysarth the watcher
High Elf of the Skyrim wilds
Dusk was already past and Ysarth got up slowly, stretching his huge, white physique and yawned. The air still smelt of death-magic and no vampire blood. He watched the road in slight anticipation, looking for any movement that might resemble the group. He found none.
Ysarth began the short descent down the mountain, keeping a lookout on the castle of black. The gates stood still, but he knew it was not vacant. He counted on there being guards, hidden or visible; he had to be careful.
The sky was dark, enshrouding the ebony castle as if it were its mother or protector, and Ysarth began his quiet stalk towards the walls, following the treeline on the right. He smelt a wolf nearby, barely, the dark magic flourishing in his nostrils and masking other scents he usually would not have trouble smelling.
Ysarth's ears picked up voices from the walls:
'...like a dog or wolf. I couldn't tell.'
'Fool. You are weary from the watch. Go retire in your bed and let a real soldier handle the watch.'
'I hate those Draugr lurking back there. I wish...'
...and the voices trailed off, the wind shifting.
Ysarth let out a hot breath and continued to the black walls.
