Ok this may seem silly, but as us console players are unable to mod the game........what do you do to keep skyrim exciting?

I've played through several times on both consoles - currently playing on ps3 - but roundabout level 40-50 boredom sets in and I end up starting over. I know there is stuff that kicks in at the higher levels like legendary dragons, ebony warrior etc but once I've done all the main quests, found all the best stuff and bought all the houses, I just find myself feeling......meh, what now?

At the moment I am level 46 and i'm trying to delay doing dragonborn (the last ''major'' quest I have left) and i'm fast running out of things to do. Really don't wanna start over again yet. Theres things i've thought about: ditching the good stuff and using nothing but the basics, making skills legendary and using others that I haven't really touched. What do you guys do to pass the time, keep it interesting? I'm just curious :)

3 methods for me (I'm on PS3 as well):
    1) Quit playing for about 90 days. It's fresh again (weird, eh?)
    2) Do major RP - set rules for yourself both in behavior and in action
    3) Once you get to higher levels - switch it up. Have your sword & shield become a spellsword. Have your warrior become a mage. Have your mage become a thief, etc...

Oh! And another. Just legendize everything and start a out on new skills (or use that book in Apocrypha).

Personally - I'm just taking a break after 4000+ hours and playing other games like Dragon Age, Dragons Dogma, Heart of Fire and Assassins Creed. It's been almost 4 months now and I'm almost ready to go back to Skyrim. Once I get through Dogma 1 & 2 and the new Dragon age I'll start over with Oblivion and then work my way back through all the games again.

Why not embrace both? Role play with restrictions, and start new?

Start playing "Dead is dead." Whether you're killed by a bandit or a dragon, fall off a cliff, or eat too many ingredients, regardless of your level or loot, houses owned or titles borne, once you die you're out. Start again. I would make a two hard saves right before you name and design your character, if you can. That way, you die and you can go right back to character creation, without having to relive the wagon ride.

I feel sorry for you console players. I don't think I could ever play Skyrim using a console.

I can see autosave overload, but carpal tunnel is usually brought about by certain other interwebz functions. o_O Can't blame Skyrim for th...well, ok, maybe Serana.

I was introduced to it on a PS3 and used that for a couple of years, before getting this PC. What a difference.

Im basically not buying a console ever again. I guess my last one was a PS2, and even then I preferred my PC games due to modability and such. Its only gotten worse for console gamers with time.

For the OP though, implement restrictions on your character to keep it real. I never use Fast Travel anymore, I can take in the scenic beauty of Skyrim, collect blue mountain flowers everywhere I go and such, and its more realistic than teleporting across the map using High Middle Ages technology.

I used to play Skyrim on console, now I have it on PC. Regardless, my advice stays unchanged. Take a break. Like Daelon said earlier, just take a break from Skyrim, and it should feel fresh again.

Yeah, I usually take a few months off of playing the game. Then I'll go back and play another playstyle. I played the game on PlayStation 3 originally a year or so ago, then I just recently acquired The Elder Scrolls Anthology (Bundle of every game and DLC) and started playing a Wood Elf Archer. Been at it just a few days now and I've already got 70 hours invested in this character.

Far better than playing it on console, eh? So many glitches and bugs has been fixed by using mods... unable to access them on console. Such a shame.

How to curb boredom of Skyrim? Stop playing it and play other games like Dragon Age and Dark Souls. Then after a month or two go back to Skyrim.

I pretend that I'm hosting the show "100 Ways To Die"... Skyrim Edition!
I go around killing people I always wanted to and saying, "I'd rather die than go to prison!" to the guards. Oh, once I jumped down from the Throat of the World. That was fun. I also managed to break out of the prison in Raven Rock. That's always fun... Breaking out of jail
