Bio
Sharn was raised in Cheydinhal, and is what many would call a "city-Orc." He was raised by a family of rich Imperials after the death of his mother, and his father's duty to the Imperial Legion. Sharn's mother had been friends with the Imperial wife, Isabella, during their young adulthood, and was taken on as a casual cleaner at the family's villa until her death.
Sharn originally lived with his father, who took leave from the Legion after his wife's death, but soon realised his skill on the battlefield did not translate to the skills of fatherhood, and it was agreed that Sharn would live with his adoptive family, which was undoubtedly in his best interest. Sharn saw his father roughly twice a year as he grew up, but stayed in contact by letters sent to and from all over Tamriel, and Sharn couldn't wait to get to 22 and join the Legion after he'd finished his education his Cyrodiil.
Sharn learned mostly from the family's steward, Bastio, in their impressive library full of history books and legends. He learned about the Divines and Daedra, and his beliefs were moulded partly by Talos and Malacath; both of which he considered important parts of his heritage. He also learned about and gained an interest in Dwemer history and technology. Sharn learned the power of the Daedra if they are dealt with in the wrong ways, and accepted the importance of the Divines.
He studied and trained alongside his adopted brothers, both of which were a few years older than him. Soon though, Sharn outperformed them both, particularly in swordplay and physical training. When he was in his early teens, Sharn's father and adopted father Martin, both agreed he would begin training with the Legion recruits, to supplement his academic study. He excelled and was almost immediately shortlisted as a prospect for a commanding role as soon as he entered the Legion. Sharn was truly happy with his life, and his current aims, yet still lamented the loss of his mother, and the secrecy surrounding her death.
Sharn's father left for the Legion again after a prolonged return to Cyrodiil. As he left, Sharn felt a different feeling from his father; a sense of foreboding and worry. They embraced, and he left as always, through the villa gates. When Sharn returned to the library, Bastio, Martin and Isabella presented a number of items explaining his mother's death, and told him they'd been sworn to secrecy for over 10 years.
She had been cursed by necromancers after seeking contact with her recently deceased mother. At first she considered her visions a blessing, but they soon changed and became horrible images of the dead, mutilated in battle hundreds of years ago or tortured to death in the prisons. She lost control of her modest magical abilities, even spouted arcane fire from her mouth as her condition became extreme.
She had left for Skyrim alone, seeking aid from a Stronghold to the north. However, she had died on the way, having accidentally set a tavern on fire in her sleep, as detailed by the Imperial Coroner's report. Among the bundle of items was a letter from Arok admitting that he'd been hunting the necromancers for years, after they fled to Skyrim. He told Sharn that he must find them and put them to the sword, Arok had been seen too many times, and the foul mages knew who to look out for. There was also a key to the blacksmiths, and a note from Sharn's father with instructions on finding a hidden chest. The chest contained freshly hand-beaten armour made from a mix of Imperial Steel and Orcish materials, along with a long Orcish sword and the family's enchanted shield (Sharn only found out it was enchanted when he knocked it onto the forge by accident, and noticed the glowing runes instead of damage).
He set out for Skyrim that day, and found his way to the border. Having ran out of Septims he tried to sneak over the border after Elenwen and the Thalmor caused a stir and distraction, but it was not enough and he was caught. The Thalmor accused Sharn of spying on them, and ordered his death. When he protested and struggled, he was paralysed by magic and sustained small cut from a sword on his left cheek. Tullius managed to convince the Thalmor to allow him to be held, and dealt with at Helgen.
Equipment
After leaving Helgen with little more than some tight Imperial Light Armour and a warm hood, Sharn receives some Steel Armour from a charitable Jarl Balgruuf. He wields a basic Steel Sword until joining the Companions, at which point he uses Skyforge Steel. He then proceeds through the main questline and equips Blades equipment with an Orcish Helmet until they disagree over Paarthurnax. He then uses a combination of Orcish and Steel Plate armour, wielding an Ebony Sword enchanted with Fire magic. He doesn't use Dragon Armour because he feels it's brash and in poor taste.
Skills
Sharn becomes a great warrior during his time in Skyrim, specialising in a sword, shield, heavy armour combination. He also improves his skill with restoration magic which he uses to heal himself and his companions, being trained by Danica Pure-Spring after helping restore the Gildergreen. He is also a capable smith, after learning from Eorlund Gray-Mane.
Personality
Sharn is originally nervous of his destiny, but his natural confidence wins through and he continues to be refined, noble and good. His strong views are challenged by dealing with Skyrim's diverse population and he finds himself becoming more open-minded. He is a natural scholar, and seeks useful knowledge wherever it can be found. He is particularly distrusting of Conjuration and Illusion magic, and attacks necromancers on sight.
