I have been playing Skyrim on the PS3 and love it so far. I have been hearing about the game breaking lag after a certain play time on the PS3 though... so I am not sure which platform to get it on. I have a pretty good PC, I can run the witcher 2 on high settings w/o any problems, but I don't know about using a mouse with this game. Played oblivion and skyrim so far with a controller and loved it.

Is it possible to buy a 360 controller and use it on the PC without having to download various programs and having to program the buttons into the computer to coorespond with the game? I don't want to go through all that hastle just to play the game with a controller.

I am leaning toward PC version right now because of some of the mods I would like to add, but mods are not a huge factor in my decision. I would just buy it for the ps3 and be done with it but I am worried about this lag issue. I have heard it is possibly unfixable.

    Any suggestions?

If you want the better route, go PC. If you want the easier route, go console.

I'm a console man myself. I prefer not to use mods or console commands. Some people like that stuff, I feel like it's cheating. Yes you can play PC without that stuff, but that's why most people get the PC version.

XBOX plays just fine, with no other issues than what has been discussed and is being fixed (hopefully) by patch 1.3.

What's your TV? A big screener with stero sound? Comfy living room chair because you will be playing for hours - on the couch or lay-z boy or a desk chair, hunched over. Of course, you could plug in the computer to the big screener...

Why yes, as a matter of fact. The La-Z-Boy recliner and me are a team. The other members of the team include XBOX, 52" Samsung HDTV, and my Yamaha surround sound system.

Im too old to be hunched over a computer desk. Several years of WoW probably did a ton of damage to my back. Thank gawd I quit.

Oh yeah, and on a console (XBOX or PS3), I don't have to deal with that stupid f***ing Steam.

Well if I had a 360 I would get it for that but I don't. My main concern w/ PS3 is the lag issue that makes the game unplayable. My concern with PC is being able to use a controller. I can buy a wired 360 controller and plug it in to my PC. But will I have to download software to program the buttons to work once I plug it in or will it just work with the game? The process of programming all the buttons on a controller to mimic keyboard keys looks awfully difficult.

if I had a pc that could run skyrim smoothly I'd go with that. I bought it for the 360 cause I don't, but I haven't ran into any game breaking bugs and I don't think I've ran into bugs that are 360 exclusive. But with the pc you can use mods to add more replay value if you end up getting tired of vanilla game (haha hard for me to imagine right now, but eventually I guess it's inevitable or else I'd still be playing Oblivion all the time).

I don't own a ps3, but basically every game I have for the 360, admittedly I'd rather have on the pc. I just can't justify buying a gaming pc when I can I play most releases on the 360. It's just convenient. The 360 controller is good for western rpgs though, skyrim isn't like an fps where using a mouse would give you a huge advantage unless you're really keen on pulling off amazing stunts with the bow. Even if I had skyrim on the pc I'd still use a 360 controller, and I grew up playing quake and quake2 with a keyboard and mouse and am usually a keyboard and mouse preferring man, haha.

It's all about if you can take it. How about providing me with your computer specs. If you can handle it, PC 4 the win. For multiple reasons :

Better Graphics- Again, only if youre computer can handle it
Mods - If you know what you're doing you can have a blast
Less Glitches- Most glitches are fixable by poking around in the Skyrim game folder
Smoother Gameplay- Controllers have only so many buttons. On the console you find yourself having to open up the menu over and over again to select magic or items. Set up the right hotkeys and you'll see that menu once in a blue moon.

I understand you prefer controller, but I urge you to give the mouse and keyboard a firm chance. Get a gaming keyboard and mouse if your current setup is uncomfortable.
