It seems kinda weird that she feels like a misfit and complains about how people have always judged her and treated her like a weirdo. She's a priestess of Arkay, and surely that's one of the most respected positions you can hold in Skyrim, as the Nords are all about honoring their dead and they have an intense hatred for necromancers who mess around with their burial grounds.
Runil is one of the most respected citizens in Falkreath, and he's a former Aldmeri battlemage, and he spends most of his time in the pub drinking alongside all the Nords. Why should Alessandra have a tough time fitting in with the people of Riften?
I guess the Rifters don't have time for religion since they're all stressing about the thieves guild pilfering them out of business. The priests of Mara get ignored as well, but at least they have each other for company. Alessandra is all alone down there in the basement with the dead bodies.
