Hubris follows victory, lawlessness follows reform, riots follow peace. We seem destined to repeatedly poison, and then heal, ourselves.
It is said that Prometheus took pity upon man and offered him an escape from struggle: offering a present that would, inevitably, only further mankind's annihilation. He granted observers the spark of inspiration and manipulation so that they might mold their surroundings and never defile nature; to philosophers, He created the endless flames beyond reach so that the heavenly bodies might never be forgotten; to nobles, He admitted the burden that all templars must bear: the strength to end all fires, in case a blight were to arise seeking life and leaving death in its wake.
It is also said that, in ancient times, men crossed paths with holy magics that enhanced their natural abilities. They were shards from heaven, giving light to abilities never possessed by a mortal. We buried these heavenly secrets, for despite their virtues, they were prophesied by new cultures to bring about our destruction. Royals kept them in small safes and buried them in gardens. Greed influenced one noble to keep one of these boxes. Through time, it made its way to an unidentified time and person who, shortly after receiving it, disappeared. In time, we forgot the the secret magics, which slipped out of our history books and into legend.
Last year, unusual cases began to erupt in the genes of random humans worldwide. Scientists were baffled and struggled to understand these superhumans at a genetic level, to discover what made them tick. Governments tore at the roots, struggling to cooperate with other governments to properly document what was happening. A man named Joshua Brown self-combusted, ending hundreds of lives and leveling a six-story mall in Washington D.C.
The governor stepped forward and announced that the governments had created a temporary alliance known as the International Anomaly Coalition. The superhumans, gaining in population as affected individuals reached maturity, came to be known as Anomalies. The Coalition, naturally on edge from the Brown case, boasts teams that are capable of apprehending Anomalies for study or, should the action be necessary, imprisonment. Anomalies are considered dangerous and, in some extreme cases, terrorists. The superhumans have begun to revolt and openly accept their abilities, whilst some keep them secret from the rest of the world.

Rules:
• Keep irreverent conversations and comments out of OOC. That's what PM conversations are for.
• This is an 18+ roleplay thread, so be aware that there may be violence, mature language, and light adult themes.
• No godmoding. Let the characters drive the plot. Fight fair in combat/be willing to be beaten once in a while.
• Before you can join the roleplay, I will examine your character profile and alert you via PM conversation if it is or isn't acceptable. Do not take offense if I find something unacceptable; like you, I want your character to live up to his or her full potential, and I am not afraid to speak up about things that keep him or her from that goal.
• I recommend using a white dialogue color, as I do. It stands out but does not hurt the eyes.
• The CC format is a basic guideline, so please alter it to your liking if need be.
• Less of a rule but more of a note for us all: the RP will start on June 5th 2015.
Character profile guide:
• IMAGE - You are not required to include an image. Please avoid using anime images.
• NAME - When asked for a name, give the characters full name (given, middle, surname). Do not include aliases unless they actually apply be used by other characters.
• AGE - Any age is acceptable, though I recommend sifting through the list of accepted characters to avoid repeating common age groups.
• GENDER - If the character does not identify as male or female, then include the character's current physical gender and gender identity.
• RACE - Any race is acceptable, regardless of the number of common races. Just keep in mind that all characters must eventually meet.
• ID - A unique four-digit ID number is required for every character in the case of imprisonment or similar scenarios.
• POWERS - Non-mutated characters and/or IAC members are acceptable. If applicable, list up to three related anomalies/abilities and give a description of what your character can currently do with it. List vertically by copying and pasting the provided bullet for each anomaly/ability. To avoid Mary Sues and cliche powers, each anomaly/ability must be unique and include weaknesses. Explore the Superpower Wiki for inspiration.
• APPEARANCE - Required even if you have an image for the character. Include appearance details like height, physical build, skin/iris/hair color, facial hair, distinguishing marks, tattoos, etc.
• PERSONALITY - The personality section is optional. You may describe how your character acts and interacts here.
• HISTORY - How were they raised? How did they get to where they are? This section should keep to the important facts, so it should not be excessively lengthy or detailed. Do not include details that do not further the story or significantly affect the character or roleplay.
• WRITING SAMPLE - Include a short snippet of your original creative writing in the writing sample field. This is not required for your 2nd+ character.
