What do you do when you play skyrim for the first time after a long break?

I'm just curious as to what people do when they play again after a while. it really surprised me when the first thing I did was check in on family, chopped some wood and then killed every guard in solitude. before I quit playing for a while I always assumed I go shoot some deer and elk not check on wife and kids and chop wood lol

Depends on the character.

I logged into one and was baffled beyond reason. Why did I have magic? Where was I? WHO was I? I'm an Altmer. Okay. Okay, and that's why I have magic. But where -- am I on a cliff? No. No, I'm at the entrance of a cave. What cave? What level am I? Five? Why am I at Broken Oar Grotto at level five? What could I possibly need over here before absolutely everything else in this game?

I never did figure out the last bit.

Why is the alto wine always gone?
well when i come back froma break i usualy start a new character, spend an hour on the face which i hardly see depending on the armor/ helmet. I try different things, try to restrict myself to an RP aspect not just a power leveling god in deadric armor 1 shotting dragons while i carry over 500k in septims and nothing to spend it on....500k in septims can by alot of booze, but sadly thats all there is to spend it on really...we need wenches, nice round, hott, sleezy wenches, and meed!

As I am currently playing three characters at once, I need to:
a) look at myself in third person view.. ok I am Shadow/Gregrick/Indari
b) figure out where I am (view of map..hmm... ok...)
c) figure out WHY I am there (View of journal....ahah!)
d) quick weapons/armour/inventory check (ahh crap! I still have to give [INSERT OBJECT] to [INSERT NAME], and sell all these [INSERT ITEMS]!!)
e) Ignore everything and go build something in my house/s...or..
f) ....do naked run down [INSERT CITY NAME]'s streets.

I run into this type of problem with every character. I lose my train of thought, kinda like an actor asking "What's my motivation?"

If I lose my connection to a character, my solution is usually to just start a new one and never look back.

I'm on my 3rd comeback tour to Skyrim and still basically doing the same things I did before. Though my tolerance for dying has dropped dramatically. Currently, I'm into "pure" builds. I've got an Orc who I'm trying to only level Combat skills and modeling him after the archvillain in the movie Highlander.

There are still many things I haven't done yet or if I have, I don't remember doing them so it'll be a fresh experience. I've never faced the Ebony Warrior and I know there are even some dungeons in Skyrim I haven't cleared. This game still has a lot of life left in it for me even after over a thousand hours of play.

I started Gregrick on master with just Imperial armour and a steel battleaxe. He will use nothing enchanted and no magic apart from a little bit of healing, and so far he has only done the Civil war Questline. Son of the Empire of course!

I check on the open quests in my journal. If I don't want to do any of them, I set out on foot for the city farthest from my current location and enjoy the journey. I always find inspiration to do something on that walk, but what that "something" is depends on the character.

Nephor The Shadow Stalker

Strike swiftly and silently.
I'm working on 3 different characters. 1 I play more than the other 2 and it's quite easy for me to remember cause all it takes is a glance at my map and stats.

Hidde

Drunk Archer
I try to continue on one of my characters, but it usually takes a while to get used to it. I mainly get confused what to do for 5 minutes and then it's fine. :p

I started new character
- Escape Helgen
- Take home from Rivenwood Hunter Cabin(MOD)
- Kill some bandits
- wandering around and colleting alchemy stuff
- Burning very dangerous creatres with flames. Creatures like Mudcrabs and wolves. Burn some bandits too.
- Annyoing Whiteruns jarl Wizard. She carrying dragonstone around skyrim, but will not give it away.

I try seek adventures that i havent done, in vanilla or MODS like Falskaar, Wyrmstooth.

Mighty Pecan Pie

The secret American
There is my problem, I've lost where I was going with my character. I played that character for like 2 years, and I haven't played in a while. Whenever I begin now, I don't know what to do and where to go. My latest thing was making her a 2h user instead of dual wield swords.
