When in doubt, follow the fox.
Deathbrand Armor is supposed to be the best armor in all of Tamriel. It even says so on Wiki so it must be true. However, I find a deadly "hole" in that armor in that it doesn't shield fire or frost. So you can get taken down fast by any dragon or mage. I don't want to use rings or neckaces to make up for that because they're for other things. Has anyone found a solution to this? Or is this a fatal flaw?

I mean I guess one could say anything will have a weakness even if it is the best. And the key word is "Can" and not will. In one of the lore books about the Chimer and the Dwemer talks about it doesn't matter how good the armor is if there is not a great warrior to wear it.

Basically it is a flaw but is only fatal if you don't, as the warrior, find a work around. Be it gear or just tactics. :p

Sorry for being vague and such.

Found another weakness... no Muffle. Oh and another... no proximity poison like Ebony Mail. Wait... ya, another, no Fortify Archery.. what the hell were the developers thinking?

All kidding aside, if you consider lack of Elemental Protection as a "deadly hole", I would suggest finding armor more suited to your playstyle. Fatal flaw? Lol.

I wish I had Skyrim for PC . First of all, I have a limited Wi-Fi and secondly, I don't have Dragonborn .

Do I look worried?
I've always preferred plain old Daedric armor with the Spellbreaker shield, all jacked up with the highest Smithing ability and philters. Yeah it looks a little cutesy on a guy but, I've always enjoyed a good bar fight lol

I personally think the proximity poison enchantment is a detriment to my sneaking. And if you need muffle I think you may just be a bad sneaker. :p

Bah... sneaking is for sissies anyway. ;)

Regarding the Deathbrand Armor, now that I'm not feeling quite as sarcastic, I wore it off and on many times and if you tweak your build to take advantage of it's benefits it's very, very good. I get sick of dual wielding though. Not really my style.

Did anyone else have problems putting the Scimitars on a rack? I had them on the floor, hovering in mid air, and completely falling through the floor, anywhere but the rack. In the end I carefully store them in a chest.

The only thing I can think of is to take advantage of the Lord stone and the Mara quest. That will give you 40% magic resistance, right off the bat. Then, if your character has an inborn resistance, you'll be pretty well off, if not over the cap on that one, leaving you with potions or equipment for the rest. I know your ring/necklace combo is for other things, but you might be able to get around that. I have, even in my current play, always ended up with at least 3 necklaces and 2 rings on me at any given time, more before I can dual enchant. If I end up facing down a storm mage, I open the menu and pop on my shock resist equipment and keep going. It's a pain sometimes, but it works.

I tend not to wear the Deathbrand armor. As Kitty mentioned, personally crafted/enchanted armor seems to better suit the individual play style, but at early levels, that 100 point bonus is hard to beat, not to mention carry weight, one-hand damage, and water breathing.

How do you backstab a Dragon?
Personally I prefer to wear my own custom-made enchanted armour. I always collect the Deathbrand Armour and go for the weapons but after the quest, they go in a chest, the armour on a mannequin and all those lovely coin piles in my purse.
Frankly, with the right smithing perk I can make armor that not only looks like, but has better enchantments than the Deathbrand anyhow. Besides, it ain't the armor that's so great, it's all the loot you get when you do that quest! Best loot in the game if you ask me... and the boss battle is to die for! (literally if you're not careful!).

the problem with deathbrand armor, along with any set is the fact that with the smithing perks and anchanting perks, you can craft/enchant armor to be 10x better (without using the alchemy exploit).
I wish you could do the same with the Nightingale, but, alas... (I just like the look).

While I agree for the most part, some of the better sets have enchantments that can't be replicated. For instance my Foul Presence build pushes poison as far as possible... I can't craft an armor as good as Ebony Mail for that build no matter what my skill level is. Same goes for Deathbrand, the Dual Wielding fortification on it is unique. Another good example is Ahzidal's set... impossible to replicate as every piece has a unique enchantment. Sets like the ones I've mentioned may not be able to compete powerwise when directly compared to uber crafted stuff, but when the build is tailor-tweaked to accommodate said set, you can start exploiting the set and get a different type of play experience.

Just to give a real example of what I'm talking about, with the Foul Presence build I could drop 6 Poison Cloaked Albino Spiders and we would just literally walk the land and things would wilt in our presence, most times without even fighting. Wolves and bears and trolls would just basically melt as soon as we got close... a few nips from the spiders and not much could hold up. No way I could craft a set to match that, no matter what the enchantment. Any other armor, no matter how uber would be a step back for that build.

I really like it, but the enchantments aren't up to snuff for a vampire character imo. Wish I could either craft or find an unenchanted set and do what I want with it. Talk about a dark stalker of the night. That would be cool. DB armor just looks way too much like a porno superhero to me. Not that NG doesn't look like a superhero, what with the cape and all, but it's not so over the top.
