You're joking right? I play games like Skyrim and Fallout in character, so what my character knows, is important to learn. If they do not know it, it means nothing. IF I play a hunter or an assassin, I am that kind of character. IF I play an imperial loyalist and Anti-Authority mongrel, they will side with one or the other. That is a true RP, playing in-character and having that character's mindset as your own.

Yet you have at times called lore meaningless. You switch between several things, ranging from RP, opinion and game mechanics.

Being in character, being a citizen in Tamriel. You're using lore, using knowledge, using everything presented to you to be a character in that mindset.

So unless your character is blind, deaf and dumb. You can find out majority of lore in-game.

What exactly are you pitching in this thread now? Because I rarely find anything you post useful. People in threads like these, like discussing the lore on each side. Making arguments and counter arguments for whatever side they have chosen to defend.

I've played both sides of the Civil War, and I post in here about the Empire. Everyone has a character on either side, everyone knows about RP. It isn't a new concept and suddenly unheard of until you opened our eyes. So I'm wondering, what are you going on about this time?

Explaining RP to people? Game mechanics? Telling people there are things called opinions, like we were blind to it until you came?

To cut to the chase. What is your point, your reason of being here?

??? What is this "point" you speak of? can't one just say something that makes sense and people realize it without getting upset?

When I am playing a hunter/Mercenary, do I REALLY need to know that Ulfric "murdered" The previous High King or that the Dunmer are chaffing under the stormcloaks? Not really because it does not pertain to that character.

The point of your postings. What direction are you trying to go with it?

Considering killing the High King is actually one of the first things mentioned during the execution scene. Your character knows it, if your character doesn't know about the Dunmer. Then you're either ignoring Windhelm completely. Or just going "Lalalalala" as you wander through the streets of Ysgramor's City.

I have no clue, Sheogorath must be posting stuff for me.

OR not caring. Sure it is mentioned, but as a mercenary, and as a prisoner who was to be executed, that kind of means little. Getting paid to care would be nice.

Well if your character is a mercenary. Then lore wise, if you're putting yourself in their mindset. They would actually know the Empire gives large Imperial contracts for Mercenaries, maintaining large numbers of mercenaries and paying very well.

Unless your Merc is some coward, not liking war. Then you could do guard duty for some rich Skyrim family, or do some bounties for the Jarls.

The Stormcloaks however, do not accept mercenaries. As Galmar's dialogue explains.

not a coward, just does not see the point in getting involved with the Civil War when they could make good money hunting bandits and forsworn, and taking their gear for extra pay. Don't even get me started on those tombs.

But what does it have to do with an Imperial/Stormcloak thread?

Simple, if I can get paid for doing bounties an other jobs, plus extra by selling the gear I get while on those jobs, why would I need a contract with the legion?

Seriously? Two pages have already been filled by you two, over an argument of 'true RPing' in an Imperial/Stormcloak thread.

This happens alot when I show up. I tend to either ignore what DM says, or answer really vaguely.

If you ignore what someone says.... What is the point in being here? Isn't that exactly what a debate is about? ;)

Or answer vaguely. I have may way of playing games and he does not like it, so some of my posts might be to deliberately tick him off, but I have no clue.

After coming back and reading this, I have now made my final decision. The Empire is what's best for Skyrim. There is simply too much evidence that the Stormcloaks overall hurt Skyrim's position and the Empire benefits it.

My opinion has probably been posted already, seeing as this is a 695 page long post, but I'll go ahead anyway.

I usually choose both sides, one for each playthrough, because I can understand both sides. For all of Tamriel, the Empire is the best, and so are the other rebels fighting against the Altmeri Dominion. But for Skyrim, (obviously it would be best if the Imperials and Stormcloaks came together and fought the Thalmor) the Stormcloaks are the best. However, the fighting between the Stormcloaks and the Imperials is only strengthening the Thalmor, as it is hurting the Empire and Skyrim as a whole.

I like to play both sides, and for each side I usually choose one playing style. For example, with the Stormcloaks, I use two handed weapons (mostly warhammers), a sword and a shield or dual wield swords. With the Imperials, I'm either a wood elf archer named Legolas, a mage, a bound-weapon mage, or I always wear the imperial armor with the closed imperial helmet, and I use two imperial swords (kind of like a roman badass). And no matter what side I choose, I always end up playing all of the different faction quest lines, especially the Dark Brotherhood quest line.
