Well, just the fee would already crush my chances of getting it if I wanted. The drill at home doesn't change: You want the game, you pay it, and my clay piggy loses some weight. Like many of you, unaffordable. Yet it isn't the part that mainly bothers me.

I like RPGs because everyone there seems to have their place in the world. NPCs farm, shop, eat, anything like real people! Can you imagine getting inside a city to see 20 players idling, looking at nothing, completely overpowered compared to you in the beginning: to me its heartbreaking! Its crucifying RPG!

Then *SNIFF* always the same problem in EVERY DAMN ONLINE GAME: there are always those spoiled brats that have a legion of pets, spells, insane armors, with a very douchy name (usually ending in 666 or 69 or even boss) who invest more money than my bedroom's furniture value in the game, that even dare to call anybody they crush a noob, as if their premium investment was halfly matching theirs.

Lets not forget about all the annoying people I find in every game. I best them, I'm always a hacker, or used a cheap shot, or accused of fake investments in the game or even called a noob for using a certain spell or ability. I lose, I'm always a noob. At home or at school or at the internet, douches are a reality (not applying to these forums so far, guys!)

And... Daedric stuff! I love having the guards comment my badass mace, or my faithful shield and sword set, but with other people, I only become the over 9000th to get there. I don't like being bested in what I like. Even in what I don't like hurts (sport)!

And, of course, hackers... I once played GTA Online. Loved it at first, but then, when I had a few humble 20 000 in my hands, a super over powered posse comes with a powerful tank, two helicopters and that awesome car that costs 10 000 000 completely bullet proof! I died as soon as I crashed against them! Money cloners everywhere. Hell, they destroy my vehicles and pay the fines with no issue, only making me waste ammo... It happens everywhere. People have the need to win, even if it has no dignity. (This is the true definition of mankind)

It pains me because, I like MMOs... Their concept is brilliant: What if we gave you a game where you could clear dungeons with your friends? That's a great dream if it comes true. (But I have no friends to play with anyway...) The only problem is that you are sharing the server with 6000000000000000000000000000 (phishing accounts included) jerks that are already stronger than you and crush you as soon as they get half a chance. Private servers would be the ideal for me. I am not much of a PVP guy. I only play League of Legends as my ideal PVP, and unless I play with the pyro Annie, I get usually mauled by everyone.

Anyway, my biggest issue, if I had any friends or any cash for TESO, would definitely be the other players...

I got my login for the weekend beta, so I'll have a better idea of it than the little bit I saw of a friend playing it.

I'm fairly skeptical of it being a great success and probably won't win me over into paying monthly for it, but I am open-minded still.

As said before though, I would have much rather had a TES game that had some type of co-op play worked in but wasn't the traditional (i.e. cookie-cutter) MMO fare. Diablo being a good model of what I would design if it were my decision.

I love the private server idea. That would be awesome.
That would be a great way to get rid of the most annoying problem of the MMO genre. You could then have great control on players you can interact with. Also in such an arrangement, at least on the PC side, there are some possibilities for modding and tweaking various aspects of game-play were a group so inclined.

I'm not going to explain very much due to beta stuff, but I'm only really interested in ESO because of the last trailer; it showed me that they've been hiding the actual story of the game from us. But, I don't have 15 bucks to spend every month on the game, so while I'd like to get it and play, I'll withhold myself from doing so due to the monthly fee and... well, I'd rather play Skyrim or Primal Carnage.

A trailer does not speak for the game they are usually to hype the game many games I have seen have had impressive trailers but games they ended up being not so good hopefully ESO will be good but the trailer Is CGI it is not gameplay so don't expect it to be like the trailer

Sharing the world with other people sometimes sucks, whether said world is real or virtual.

I can understand everyone's opinions on why not to play it.

Monthly Fee's and such; but have any of you tested Beta? Or have you thought about the positives of having an Elder Scrolls game Online?

I am by no means attacking any of you, I'm just curious if you're all just saying no based on the general MMO negatives.

I think that's a fair question, for me personally the fact that it is an Elder Scrolls game is the only factor that makes me interested. Generally speaking I'm not a fan of MMO's. I've been there, done that and decided that as a game genre it's just not a set up that suits me. But I love TES games and that's what is making me reconsider simply ignoring this release entirely.

Having thought some more on how I feel about TESO I think I will have to wait for a friend to get it and possibly play it on another's account before deciding. If other players are mature, reasonable players who don't take advantage of the system and ruin the experience through hacks and trolling then I could enjoy it.

Honestly, I would like to play it. I've enjoyed MMOs since I played Final Fantasy XI at 12 years old.
But I can't. So I'm reminding myself of all the positives my single-player Skyrim experience has afforded me, which are many.

Oh, and since I already said some bad stuff about PVP, let me just...:

I've read that before but it was worth reading again. Still hilarious.

I have two friends at work that have and they loved it. And if there was a free trial I MIGHT consider it. However ...

Regarding MMO negatives, I think Black Orchid said it best:
MMO negatives > MMO positives.
I believe this to be true. No matter how much fun a game might be, if someone is ruining your experience by the way they're playing it's going to alter your opinion of the game. GTA:Online is a great example. I can't speak from direct experience but based on the amount of whining going on over on the GTA forum it's a mess. I think I'm better off sticking with a single player game.

I dunno. I'm gonna judge the game on my own experience when I get it. I understand the negative ideals, hell, my uncle worked for Blizzard for a long time and even after giving me WoW free for a year and all kinds of crap WoW players would fawn over, i never touched it.

I suppose since I have the opportunity to afford this now with my much better job and living, I may seem a bit disconnected from those who can't so I can't really say its not expensive. Times change, and ya never know what's around the corner.

To me, if you make a choice based on another's bad experience in this situation then did you really make the choice for yourself? It wouldn't feel that way to me. So I'm getting it, and if i get disappointed, then that's just how it goes. If not, awesome. I'll finally have a game i can play with my older brother that we both love. (Besides SC2). Kinda like the mods we use for skyrim. If someone gets crashes because they installed a mod, does that mean it's broken or that they installed incorrectly?

Sometimes I feel as a singleplayer gamer, it's easy to forget that no matter where we are, and what we're doing, there will be good people and bad. I just enjoy the good, learn from the bad and keep moving.

Sorry if I sound overly dramatic or something. I dunno, just had a need to speak. Also I have no intention to insult and I'm sorry if it sounds that way anywhere.

It's hard to take Elder Scrolls Online seriously as a legitimate entry to the series when Bethesda themselves have stayed so far from the project.

This is ZENIMAX's game. That name means very little to me. I probably will not be played Elder Scrolls Online.

Bethesda is all over it, they're the publisher. Trailers, marketing etc, is all them.

ZeniMax Online is just making the game, Bethesda are doing everything else. Them special per-order editions that mess up the point of alliances, Bethesda's idea. All the lore that is messed up in TESO, is because Bethesda doesn't know their own things.

They share the same building.
