I'm curious if people usually play as their own gender or not? :) For me it usually depends on the game, some games have awful female models! But so far with Skyrim I've played all girls. I just usually end up playing my gender unless something is terribly wrong with the models.

I'm a girl, I almost always play girls if the option is available. But after the plethora of female characters I've created in Skyim, I'm finally trying out my second male.

Well, I used to prefer playing male characters despite being female myself. One major reason was the way most heavy armor chestpieces look on females...
It's definitely easier to relate to a female character, though - and both my 70+ characters were female.

I recently found a solution to the armor problem, and immediately started a new, female character. Now I prefer playing as a female. :D

Nothing against female characters, but whenever I make one, I end up wishing it was a male.

In this game, I have to be male. This is due to the marriage option. I cannot imagine playing as a female while pondering the worthiness of the men I meet. I know that females can marry other females, ( my brother does that), but it's not for me.

Bad to the Dragonbone.
If it's a human (including elven) character, I tend to prefer playing as a female while non-humans end up as a male. My rationale (as a male) is that if I'm going to be staring at my character's butt most of the game, I want it to be more enjoyable if the form would normally be attractive to me. Though I have played a male Nord and female Orc.

I usually play a female every single chance I get because playing as my own gender isn't something I can do all the time. Far too many games force you to play as a male.

Funny that you mention it, I normally like to play opposite gender which are males. Not sure why.... I'm sure Sigmund Freud has some disturbing theories on this that I don't wish to hear.

Anyways, I normally always play males on all games, even with games like Pokemon on the gameboys/DS. However, on Skyrim I always play females due to the fact that the men are ugly and hard to make attractive. And I actually like playing females in Skyrim.

Both genders. I'm a huge rp person and get inspiration for characters from all sorts of media and sometimes switch genders to better suit a character for Skyrim or any TES title.:)

It's a big hammer.
Yeah, I switch back and forth regularly. My main character was originally male, but then his file got all messed up, so now my main is a female. It really is whatever takes my whimsy when I start thinking of a character. I do love the strong female warriors, though. But I grew up in the 90s and that was the era of bad girl art. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bad_girl_art

Farfetch'd is judging you!
I usually play male characters, because they're easier to relate to, being male myself. Although I've had a few female characters as well.

I'm a male.

I choose male because it seems unrealistic for a petite female to be swinging around a mace/sword/axe which looks like it weighs more than she does. Granted, I'm not a fan of the absurdly over-sized weapons anyway. Hurray for mods!

I suppose I could create a pure mage female which would circumvent this, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I'm a guy, but where romance is concerned, I'm wired completely wrong. Shoving women out of line for the latest Sidney Sheldon novel. It's really no fluke either because I spent 10 years in the adult industry writing fictional fantasy stories from the point of view of the women. Everyone loved my work and nobody had any idea I wasn't female. I was disturbingly popular with the women who knew however.

So it is natural for me to play as female characters. They are far more interesting to me as protagonists. Loved Xena, hated Hercules. Love Anne Bonny. The rest of the pirates are largely forgettable. It's pretty universal. Oh and women are much easier to dress, and much more rewarding to see dressed. Found that out playing Second Life.
