Kohlar the Unkilled

Time for some ale
It don't bother me.. and it's my thread!

I sometimes wish that my ancient Nord armor had that black patina like that of the draugr's. Mines all new and dull looking... By the way, I procured the helmet of Yngol yesternight.. I've made posts about wanting a draugr deathlord's helm, why did no one tell me about the helm of Yngol?? The only negative is, (for some reason), it's not considered Ancient Nord armor, so it screws up my "matching set" perk. My armor rating goes from 1200 something down to 900 something. Oh well, it's worth it..!

I did! Kind of...

That's fine, the armour cap is roughly 600 anyway so anything above that isn't preventing any more damage.

Guys the deathbrand armor actually looks really good, but depends on what kind of character you play.

The armor itself is decent looking, both light and heavy. The gauntlets are "meh," though, and the boots look ridiculous to me. Now, the helmet...is the Skyrim equivalent of a huge truck with huge tires.

Deathbrand boots and gauntlets looks like you've sticky-taped a load of ice packs to your character. o_O

Looks pretty good with Dawnguard stuff, though. (Apologies for the quality, this is a bad one by my standards)

I do like the warm, quilted look though. It's amusing to see Winterhold guards, braving the blizzard in their short chainmail sleeves. The stahlrim and carved armors at least look warm.

I've been rocking the Dawnguard heavy with pauldrons lately, with a full face helmet and steel gauntlets and boots. Until I found the Raider helmet and chainmail mods. Muhahaha.

I should try running around with an executioner's hood on. I wonder if it blocks your view...

You know, that's a good idea. I looked that item up because I was curious about it as well. In the UESP Wiki it is shown as:

Executioner's Hood (000cf8b2)

Oddly, it is listed as "cannot be equipped".

Checking around online I noticed that most people seem to get it confused with the "Execution Mask", the burlap/canvas looking thing that's placed over the heads of the 3 potential victims in the Abandoned Shack during the start of the DB quest. I wanted the gear from the Headsman that you encounter in Helgen at the start of the game. I finally found that someone did make a mod that adds the Executioner (or Headsman) gear; I haven't tried it yet but it's worth a look: Steam Workshop link

I've worn the execution masks around town, just for plopss and giggles. You can see through them, as though they're not there. Interesting night camo. o_O

I just popped in game and tested the executioner's hood. It is indeed unplayable, in the stock game. You can issue yourself a set, via the player.additem command, but being unplayable, it won't show up in your inventory menu. I suppose with console games you're out of luck, but with PC you can simply make it playable.

Here's the complete beginner's tutorial to creation kit. This will show you how to establish your master files and then how to save your own "working file" so that your changes have a place to go. Instead of using testquest, as they suggest, try executionergear. Then, once you've made your active file like the tutorial says, scroll down the left side of the object window to the very bottom. Click "all" and then type "executioner" in the search box. You'll see a short list, with a few versions of the executioner gear. Avoid the outfit and aa files, but instead double click on ClothesExecutionerHood. In the lower left corner of the box that comes up, check "playable" then hit OK and save the file.

The next time you go in game, open your console and type...

help executioner

...which will bring you a short list of items. The hood should be under the heading ARMO, and I believe the item code above is correct, but I neglected to write it down. Whatever code it gives you, type...

player.additem cf8b2 1 (you don't need the leading zeroes, and the 1 tells it how many to give you)

Assuming that's the right code, a usable executioner's hood should appear in your inventory. I noted that it has no armor rating, but in the same box you can experiment with changing it to light or heavy armor, what armor rating to give it, etc.

Good luck.

I meant the masks... the ones you can get off of the victims in Astrid's shack...
You can wear those and still see, without modification. I've never messed with them in CK, so I don't know about adding armor rating or anything to them, but I imagine it is possible.

One of my personal favorite armor combinations is the Vampire Royal Armor with Daedric gauntlets and boots (alternatively Ebony, looks just as good) and one of the Dragon Priest masks. It's a look I've worn for ages on my first and main (in the sense that he's the highest level) character.

As for weapons that I use with that armor setup, usually I use Dawnbreaker and Zephyr with Dwarven arrows (especially with the Kohnarik mask, all the gold/brass goes together quite well).

Another combination I'm a fan of is wearing Master Robes with Ebony gauntlets and boots along with a Dragon Priest mask. It's a good loadout for a pure mage if you get a good set of robes and enchant the gauntlets and boots with some magic-enhancing enchants. Wearing a certain Dragon Priest mask will also provide some extra bonuses aside from looking badass.

An alternative to mage robes would be the Telvanni Robes from Dragonborn, they look pretty cool when combined with a Dragon Priest mask and some heavy gauntlets and boots.

I'd REALLY like to know how to get hold of one of the draugr helmets, but they seem to be flagged unplayable. :/
It's a variant of the ancient Nord helmet. If you have PC, it's addable through console only, PS3/XBox are probably unavailable as far as I know.

On vanilla game, Ancient Nord Armor can be forged at the Skyforge during the Companions questline. Also, I believe there is one or two dungeons you can find pieces of the armor. Not to mention Ahzidal's Armor. Ancient Nord Armor is one of my favorite armors and my main character wore it for a very long time.

Ancient Nord armour is one of my favourites to. You can get many sets inside Forehost. Yeah THAT place. I go in there JUST to get a couple of sets. Then enchant them and wear one set and give the other to my follower, who is usually Annekke. Someone mentioned that a certain piece of armour makes the follower stand out while in melee and the AN armour certainly does that.

I also wear a matching dragonscale set. I like to be matching, but I choose whatever weapon I like most. Usually the Dwarven crossbow and a sword. My current sword is a Daedric Sword of Inferno, and I am carrying a Stalhrim bow.

In one of my first playthroughs, I had a mix of Nightingale and the Ancient Shrouded cowl.

I like dual-wielding Dawnbreaker and the Nightingale Blade. The combination kinda reminds me of Roxas dual-wielding Oathkeeper and Oblivion.
