What do you all consider the best type of player? I know it varies but I also know some people can pull of a hybrid really well, I'd like to consider myself a hybrid, hmm, what type of player are you and what are you working to be?

for me it depends all on what build I am roleplaying as for what my "best character" is

Hildolfr

It's a big hammer.
I think the strongest type of player is the stealthy archer. I've found that they're nearly unstoppable because at high levels they're slamming enemies with a crazy amount of damage while completely undetected.

Personally, I play the warrior. Heavy armor and close combat. I think I prefer dual-wielding the most, but two-handed and sword and shield all have their merits. I would never say that style is the best, though. Well, maybe the best for me, but I'm not everyone.

If you're talking about the strongest type of character, then look no further than the Nightblade. Sneak + Illusion + Daggers is way overpowered IMO. Add something like Enchanting + Conjuration and you'll never have to do anything yourself ever.

Gotta agree with this. My strongest character is a modified/slightly tweaked version of the classic Nightblade build and dominates any quest/fight easily. Even at lower levels, I had a much easier time with this character than I did my warrior or Mage characters.

However, it also depends on the player. Any build can be amazingly overpowered if you sink enough time into it and learn its tactics/skills well enough. I've seen people tank through the game, easily dominating with pure destruction mage builds, and even wipe Alduin with pure pacifist builds. Once again, it kind of just depends on you and whatever build you play best/know best. :)

Totally agree with this! For me, the best thing about Skyrim is the fact that any class, race or a combination of the former two can, and will, be successful and powerful if one invests enough. I like the absolute freedom of it.

As a player, I like to think that I can pretty much play any style of character fairly well after experimenting and trying different styles for about two years. Sure, I get rusty on one style when I use another for a while, but soon enough I get back into the swing of things.

I love all characters in their own way, but I think my favourite is the scout-type character. Archery, sneak, one handed, light armour, block, speech (with back up skills in smithing, enchanting, illusion or pickpocket, or a combination of those) gives you a deadly mix of ranged ability, stealthy ambushes and survivability in close-quarters, without really giving anything up in return. It's definitely my personal favourite and a style I keep returning to, possibly because that's how I feel I would choose to fight if it was me in those situations (although I assume I'd be willing to learn and use magic to augment my abilities).

For that pure type character, I love stealthy archer. I just love picking off a whole room of Draugr before I even take two steps in the area. I love archery a ton.

But to be honest, my favorites are also hybrids I guess you could call them. Example:

A High Elf that does Dual Weild, archery, one hand/shield, conjuration, some restoration and illusion, sneak, enchanting, smithing. Now, I will say it gets to be a bitch with perks sometimes. But once it really comes down to it, if you really look at all of the perks, you can weed out the useless ones and just get the good ones. Plus if you make a mistake or you want to switch it up a little bit, you can just get all of your perks back at the end of Dragonborn DLC.

That character was also a hybrid werewolf/ Vampire (VL) and yes that's possible! Pretty fun.

Nephor The Shadow Stalker

Strike swiftly and silently.
I personally do hybrids. I prefer flexibility over stale tactics. I've played archetypes and each is unique with it's own limitations and strengths but diversity is key for all my personal taste. There's no right answer for this question but for me it would have to be people who know what they want and shape it to how it can effective.:)

I recently changed up my build from always ( for a year ) playing a Bosmer Archery , sneak type , to a Redguard Hybrid type. I feel for me the Bow skills are perfect , but the LiL Elf really did'nt excell in One hand . This new build gives me the best of both one hand , and very decent Bow skills .

I have never been into the magic thing so this former desert dweller , will only use a small amount of Alteration for transmuting ore into better componants for Smithing .

In Light armor this race is a one hand killing machine , I might later throw in Duel yield , never have tried that . K- Cheers :)

I gotta say, the most powerful character I ever played was a dual wielding(mace/dagger), archery, and sneak type of character. Boosted by the crafting skills later, it is obscene how much damage you can get from a dagger+sneak+poison sneak attack, and if you're good, you can score them in the middle of combat. Most people will agree that sneak +bow/dagger is the most OP, but it's by no means the best character. "Best" is pretty subjective.

Aye, the "Best" character is one that the player is most comfortable with.

But I still think the Nightblade is the most OP

I'm an archer to heart. I have both a pure thief character, and a warrior/thief hybrid (I guess you could call her a ranger or a hunter) character, and they both use bows as their primary weapon. The thief focuses purely on stealth skills: Sneak, Lockpicking, Archery, Pickpocket and so on. The hybrid uses Sneak, Light Armor, Archery, Smithing and Two-Handed for close combat. Magic never did it for me, so neither of these characters use any magic (well, except for Shouts in the case of the latter one). I tried playing a mage for a while, but soon got bored of it.

So for me, it's always bows.

I've tried playing as a dunmer destruction mage before and while it was fun, I soon found myself feeling too overpowered. While it can be fun initially, eventually the ability to walk into a room and just wipe the floor with your foes can get a little stale.

So I switched to a red-blooded two-handed master. That was fun. Guiding my nordic warrior dragon queen across Tamriel, kicking ass and taking names, all the while wielding a handcrafted warhammer she forged in the homestead she built herself...but in the end I retired her character as it simply wasn't my style.

Now I've settled on my personal favourite. Bosmer ranger. She mostly relies on her archery, but if anyone gets close enough (or she's feeling cocky) she falls back to her twin war axes. While it is an insanely overpowered build it's fun enough to play, and if at any time I feel like the challenge is slipping I just up the difficulty.

I always go with a nord, axe and shield occasionally using a sword instead of axe, archery, light armor, speech, sneak and sometimes alteration/illusion mixed in.

Although, altmer are RIDICULOUSLY fast and overpowered mages :p

On my opinion I prefer a battle-mage dark elf, simply because of the following reasons... They are very stealthy ( being good with conjuring a bow and also when you have to clear out areas of large enemies you can conjure up swords or go to mage part of the build, and use magic to defeat your foes) Also the destruction boost is very useful when you have to face long range enemies. ( firevall , firebolt, lightning bolt, ice spike, blizzard, thunderbolt, and so forth.)

Here's For Your Trouble
I've never actually done an archer AND dual dagger character before, but I've done both separately. I can see how powerful they'd be together past a certain point, but wild encounters can be problematic until your archery ability is good enough to easily deal with bears and trolls. I guess you could always do alchemy and make paralysis or invisibility potions to escape those situations early in the game

The first time I played through the game on master I used a curiously good combination of archery, conjuration, smithing, enchanting, light armour and sneak. Archery is weak early in the game, so for bosses and random bear attacks I'd hide (or stand on a rock) and spam flame/frost atronachs until the enemy is dead or weakened enough that I can engage it. I'd also use the bound bow to fill my soul gems, which makes two good ways archery and conjuration combine

Conjuration became pointless after a while though. Archery gets so good with the overpowered smithing/enchanting combo and max perks that I stopped bothering summoning my dremora lord and never reached 100 conjuration.

I might add that conjuration itself is kind of pointless when the sanguine rose exists, since the only thing better than a dremora lord is two dremora lords/atronachs, and you have to have such a high level in conjuration for the dual summoning perk that you'll most likely be pretty unstoppable at that point anyway. I think it's a bit unfortunate that some items are that overpowered- if the sanguine rose only summoned a flame atronach there'd be a lot more reward for putting the time into conjuration

The best techniques are the one's passed down to the survivors.

The best techniques are the ones passed on by the survivors.

Fixed

"Blademaster Gaiden Shinji (?b - ?d)
A hero of the First Era and the leader of Order of the Diagna who was killed in the Thirty-Year Siege of Orsinium.[1][2] In the Annals of Daggerfall, King Joile's letter to Gaiden Shinji of the Order of Diagna contains the following reference: "The orcs have been much plaguing the Wayresters and impeding traffic to the heart of the land." The date given for the letter was 1E 948.[3] Shinji also founded the Arena of the Imperial City, and was its original Blademaster.[4] He is well-known for saying, in 1E 947, that "The best techniques are passed on by the survivors...".[5][6] The combatants of the Arena refer to him in a manner most would reserve for gods, often saying things like "by Shinji", "Shinji be with us", and "for Shinji's sake""
