I was wondering if the Nord Warrior can use a Bow ?

I have never played a pure Warrior type . Seems like I once tried this with a Nord with out much success .

Just was seeking some in sight before creating a new character . Thanks for any input reguarding my Question.

Lore-wise? I don't see why not. There is a female Nord you can meet that will give you training for Archery, and Aela is a prolific Archer herself, for a couple of examples. I think that the idea of Archery for Nord is for hunting mainly. Nords are well know for being warriors, and I'd take hunting to be a segment of that mindset, that could be easily transferred to a warrior abilities and strategies. That's just my 2c on the matter though. :)

From a character skills standpoint, it's doable. You start with 15, rather than 20 or 25, but you can raise that skill as easily as any other.

If you don't already have it, here's a chart showing which races start out with which boosts.

Not sure if you still need any info, but I'll still say:

Everyone will learn archery skills the same speed (unless a standing stone of course) so it doesn't matter the race. The only difference is what you start out with. For example, Wood Elves start out with 25 skill in archery, while High Elves start out with 15 skill. That's is absolutely the only difference.

As far as warrior, I don't see why not. Typically I think of two handed and one-handed/shield. But really, I don't see why not. I think as long as you don't use an ounce of magic you should be okay. That way, all of your offence requires some kind of actual smithed piece of equipment.

Have fun! :p

The bow I believe is an essential part of what a Warrior would use, especially at a distance, and used as a sniper would use a .50 Caliber for a target over a mile away. True, the arrow won't go that far, yet used right, they kill silently if in sneak mode.

Also, if you need to fill Black Soul gems, having a Bow with an Enchant to absorb Soul's I feel is essential.

What I enjoyed when having my fem char use her bow, is to sneak to a well shaded or dark area, then to let loose an arrow into the (or what would be deemed as the strongest) NPC, then watch them run back and forth trying to find her.

Then when they relax, nail them again, the bring out her improved steel sword and dagger. Or else cast a few fireballs or ice spear's.

Of course they can. My current Nord is lvl 46, archery skill is 94. You just have to shoot arrows into foes from the sneak mode for max impact. With my ebony bow firing dwarven or ebony arrows (cannot remember which), on a quest to kill a giant, I killed the giant with one shot. You just have to raise that skill when you level up.

Now, before you wonder how I am this high, I am only putting perk points in smithing, heavy armor, one-handed, archery, and block. I have 3 perk points in sneak, just to get the 6x multiplier as well.

I don't believe it matters what type of character you play. Some races have a slight edge in one or another skill but the differences only effect your starting point or handicap if you will. My sneaky wood elf character gets one shot kills with his soul trap bow. And yet I can blast the foe with magic and it takes a bunch of hits to finally kill an antagonist. All fun and games. level 67 and counting.

I noticed that too. After a while, you get some smithing and alchemy gear, end up with the ability to make your bow do 200 + points of damage, legitimately, and yet the icy spear does a whopping 90. Makes no sense to me. I was once given advice to try potions of destruction, as they actually up the damage rather than just lowering the casting cost. May be useful to you.

I'm essentially lazy and I hate rummaging around in the potions to find something useful. I try to hot key some of the items but again I am fickle and always changing things. Hell it's fun to try different approaches. When I am going up against a possibly fatal confrontation I do a save, go for it, load the save and do another approach. Every once in a while I learn something. lol
