anyone know like a precise place to find a good dmg enchantment for a bow
and i guess a grand soul gem so i can get full potential out of the enchantment?

Yes and there are not many damage enchantment on damage alone you have a main choice of Fire (With additional burn damage) Frost(That can freeze your opponent) and Shock (That can cuese parralasys) If you have the double enchantment perk i ussuelly use one of the above normaaly fire with a soul trap enchanment or damage health or stamina. For a bow in the beginning ill either use Frost or something like soul trap for improvement and so on , hope this helps

correct there are a few like this , some give more damage against undead and so on. you find those enchantments at a forge outside whiterun if i remember correctly

The best damage enchantment (though some may disagree) is probably Absorb Health. Hurts them and helps you at the same time. However I can't tell you where one can be found except as random loot or at a merchant.

Filled Grand soul gems (and the smaller ones) are sold by the Jarls' wizards and by the instructors at the College of Winterhold. You can find them as loot but if you're in a hurry and have some gold to burn, buying them is the quicker option.

In my experience , absorb health has less utilty from a bow than a melee weapon if I`m shooting from sneak and not taking any significant damage. You get more progress toward a kill with Fire/Shock combination or Fire/Frost for non-mages.

For maximum damage, I'd put two damage enchantments on it - fire and shock, or fire and absorb. (If this is possible. I haven't gotten to double-enchant anything yet.)

Or, join the Thieves Guild and get the Nightingale bow, by far the best unique bow in the game, though getting it at later levels is better than earlier. If you get it between levels 1-19, it'll have a base damage of 12, do 10 points in frost damage and 5 points in shock damage. But if you wait until level 46, it's base damage will be 19, it'll do 30 points of frost damage and 15 points of shock damage! And of course you can improve it at a smithy, with void salts. At level 46 youll probably be high enough in smithing to get it to legendary right away, and then it'll do a ridiculous amount of damage. With a couple of archery perks and the 3x sneak attack perk, maybe one piece of gear enchanted to improve archery, you'll be able to one-shot almost anything.

Oh, for a grand soul gem, buy one off a court wizard and go kill a mammoth. They have grand souls. Or, if you can't quite kill a mammoth yet, do The Black Star quest and get the Black Star, then kill any human. Voila, grand soul.

Fire, Frost, and Shock aldo do base additional damage (Ex. Does 26 points of burn damage. Targets on fire take extra damage) And i'm not sure if shock has the chance to paralyze, but i do know that it drains the target's magic.

If you want to continue enchanting and collecting souls there is an enchantment called Fiery Soul Trap that does burn damage and soul trap and can be duel-enchanted with something else. So if you get this you can really have 3 enchantments on your bow. There is a weapon with this enchantment in i believe Ironbrand Barrow, but the enchantment also has a small chance to show up on weapons in loot or from vendors.

^^^ this is correct, though I have never seen it show up outside that location. You could dual enchant with frost, shock or absorb health.

I recommend to enchant paralyze followed by any damage enchant, for maximum lolz.
Enemies stops like frozen solid and falls over.
Unless they get stuck leaning against something.
The paralyze enchant has what seems to be a 40 - 50% chance to stun per shot / strike.

It is very effective against giants. (also looks hilarious)
Don't to forget to take the quick draw perk before enchanting this on your bow for most effective use possible.

If you're a new enchanter trying to find and fill soul gems to use for skill ups the you should go with the fiery souls enchant at least until you get the extra effect perk (requires 100 skill).
And here is why:
The Fiery souls enchant will damage enemies with some fire damage and also soul trap them so you will always get more souls when using this. (two effects, one enchantment)

Edit: just noticed someone already explained that fiery souls thing..
I'll just leave this anyway.

Just used my new ebony bow with the silent moons enchant, for the first time. Wow really impressed. I'm in Falkreath getting ready to find vampires and a frost dragon showed up. I'm level 51 and my archery in only 54, with 4 perks in the tree. The ebony bow, damage 88, and I was attacking at night, between 9pm and 5am my bow burns the target for 15 points. My first shot with the arrow couldn't believe how much of the dragon's life dropped. Not sure if the bow works in daytime but I am planning on being a vampire now so, should work good for me.

When you can dual enchant "Soul Trap" or "Fiery Soul Trap" is a must in addition to whatever damage enchantment you use. I like using "Shock" on a bow because, other than archers, the only other people who can hit you back from a distance are magic users, where shock is more effective.

Also, since my aim is lousy the "Shock" effect lets me know when I have hit long range targets without looking at the their health bar.

With a Daedric bow and Daedric arrows, and few smithing perks, everything is pretty much a one-shot kill now, so trapping souls is the most useful enchantment.

For mid level toons Fiery Soul Trap is one of the best enchants out there. When your enchanting reaches 100 you don't need soul trap that much any more. One is better off to use two enchants for higher dps and carry a second bow for souls for recharging your weapons or making new gear.

I don't use soul trap cause u get the soul squeezer perk that replaces the effect . I use Drain stamina cause it helps the eagle eye perk and paralysis since its funny and if i don't one shot it i can get at least two more shots

The chaos enchantment in the dragon born dlc is pretty cool. I have paralyze and chaos on my bow.

"Silent Moons Enchant!?" That is awesome, I've never even heard of that! It's clear to me that joining this forum was a good idea. And DragonOfTheNorth's drain stamina combined with the eagle eye perk is simply genius. Man, just you wait 'til I have something clever to contribute, it's gonna blow your minds...

Well, I always start off with the easier enchantments to receive, shock or fire, you can find plenty of items to disenchant for your bow and since it'll take a while until you max out your Enchantment skill to get the double enchantment perk, you need 2-3 decent bows to have separate effects with decent arrows.

Chaos Damage is great. It combines all forms of Elemental Damage into a 50% chance shot that they will affect the enemy. That defeats the need for the individual Fire, Frost, or Shock damages. I found mine (although there is a bow you can locate that has the enchant) on Solstheim. There is a quest begun by speaking to Captain.... Velez? Veleth?... You must go to a tower and defeat an Imperial, thereby gaining his "Champion's Cudgel" enchanted with this unique chaos damage.

I like to combine that with Paralyze, but you can forgo the paralysis enchantment if you opt to use paralysis potions and/or the final archery perk.

Unfortunately (and I haven't confirmed this) I believe the Silent Moon's Enchant is actually useless. It does highlight the enemies when they are hit, but others have tested and denounced its utility, or the additional damage it claims to do.

On my bows I usually go with Absorb Stamina, this way you can stay zoomed in if you have the correct perk

Is fire/shock, fire/frost a much better combination than frost/shock in terms of dealing damage? I'm planning to use the latter but i want your opinions.
