Where do I store my stuff without it disappearing? I am a Vampire Lord (newbie) and have no property as of yet. I have killed Harkon so I am pretty much done with the DG quest. I am doing other quests now so I can build up my gold so I can build Windstad Manor. Where can I store things I want to put in my house when I eventually get one? I just need one non-re-spawning chest/barrel/whatever.

Do you know those treasure maps? They lead to chests that don't respawn. But that means you have to find them first. Meeko's Shack is a better option. It is a little house near Solitude. There is no door in it, the owner is dead and it comes with a dog. :) He wanders around the house somewhere...

You can also join the College of Winterhold and store your stuff in your room there (in the wardrobes, NOT in the barrels, which respawn - learned that the hard way). Same for the Thieves Guild, you get a bed and chest there. Ditto for the Dark Brotherhood, and I think you can also store stuff at the Blades headquarters (forget the name at the moment) once you finish those quests.

thanks for the info. Unfortunately my Vampire Lord is not going to be joining the College or the thieves guild and I am RP'ing her to destroy the Dark Brotherhood. I think she will find Meeko's shack with the dead man. Seems more appealing to a vampire :)

I do know about those other chests. But I never had the guts to put things in those chests because I had a glitch and LOST TWO OF MY DAEDRIC ARTIFACTS. I about had a minor stroke. Never again.

I have a habit of collection houses though.... and moving my family around when I feel like it. But early on, if I ever had 5 grand to spend (doing DB I had butt loads of money) I either bought the house in Whiterun for convenience or when I bought Hearthfire I bought Lakeview Manor by Falkreath (if you just build the first part of the house, you get a free chest in the house).

But if you're going to put it in one of the chests listed above, just check it every once in a while, I made that mistake.

How about Breezehome ? You can buy it assuming you got around 8k ? If you are a vamp then I guess you have a chest available in your castle, don’t you ? The only place that I have tried to keep my stuff and it is absolutely secure, is the Savos-Aren quarters that you get after you finish the main quest, well I mean other than your own house of course. I never tried the Meeko hut or shack, and to be honest, I will never leave important items in a place like that but if somebody here tried it before and they did not loose anything, then I guess you should give it a try. Good luck !! ;)

Also, this is something I continually forget to do. Even when I "needed" the Septums, many times (when I remembered), I'd take my loot to an Enchantment station and DE them to move up my Enchant ability.

The abandoned Thalmor Headquarters in Solitude worked well for me as an early game storage site.
The dresser just inside the door held all my excess stuff and there are plenty of vendors to convert it all to gold.
I used for storage only as you are considered a trespasser when inside.
I understand you can sleep(or wait) inside there IF you join the Legion but I just had need of it long enough to get the cash to buy and furnish Lakeview Manor.

Okay, I know about the Embassy of course (it's a good place to collect a lot of great loot to sell after wiping them out). I had no idea about the abandoned place IN Solitude though. I'll have to check it out.

Yeah , it`s a great set-up.
Just down the staircase from the HQ , there`s an Enchanter and Alchemy table (inside Castle Dour) with the city`s smithing station just beyond that.
I rented a room at the inn for sleeping bonuses.
Sometimes I would get so much stuff from my HQ dresser to sell that it would overburden me , but it`s only a short walk to the shops.

I believe there is also some safe storage in the "Abandoned House" in Markarth, once you finish that quest.

Yup, thats were id be putting all my 'evil' things.. you know, deadric blades, books of soul eating, cannabalistic rings... excess butterflies :p

Having Molag Bal look over your sacred artifacts just seems fitting as a Vampire Lord...
