I recently started a new character called Humza and he has a mild pacific nature, like he will normally avoid fights but hes no fool, its either to be smart to live or to be a fool and die. However, one day, he was on his way to Whiterun after completing a job to bring in a criminal. Whilst on his way, he saw a man being attacked by two bandits in which in a split second, Humza pretty much intervened and he unusually exploded with anger as he couldn't possibly bear the thought of someone attacking a innocent man who was unarmed. A smart man would have avoided this but Humza's emotions just exploded... would it have been better to act as a ''smart'' man would have done?
What pretty much happened, the man had died and instead of sparing the two bandits, he instead killed them instead of showing them mercy which have been ''unusual'' for Humza but Humza had gotten the realization their is no happy endings like the stories in fables you read yet, being Thane of Whiterun meant he was obliged to protect people and not being to protect someone pretty much meant, people die. Simple as that. Moreover, what was worst, was this man had nothing on him, not some sort of treasure or this magical weapon, nothing but a few meaningless Septims. Who was this man? A trader? A merchant? Someone's father? Cousin? Son? Brother? Humza will never know.
Now this where things really start getting a bit more traumatizing for Humza, he had to make a decision. A decision that would remind for him for his failure every time he came to Whiterun. As he looked over his shoulder... it was the man's horse.
The decision he had to make was, either carry the man's corpse all the way to Whiterun so the man can have a proper burial despite Humza not having a horse himself. Or, take the man's horse to Whiterun instead. (RP wise, he couldn't do both because otherwise the horse would be terrorized of looking at his masters corpse, game mechanics and whatnot, also Humza didn't want to go back because to avoid further shock)
I chose the horse because I couldn't let the mans only companion known to Humza get lost or have the thought of something happen to it. It was either to sacrifice honor for the man and have a proper burial where songs or glory to be praised from the companions for this deed or to get a dirty rugged horse to safety; that would be meaningless or worthless to others. A worthless deed if it was sanged in books compared to bringing the honor of man.
What would your character have done? Man or Horse? Did you think what Humza did was right? -
Tell me what you think.
