    Pre-emptive Salvage Specialist
"Was that guard in Whiterun? I think I met him too, saying he was an adventurer until he took an arrow to the knee, and you know, I think you're right he did limp away from me continuing his patrol favoring the leg he said he got hit with the arrow." He laughed.
At that moment there was a clatter of metal on stone and he looked up to see Duva, "was that her full name or just short for something," tripping on a pickaxe as Tappit was whispering to Rath about trading weapons and holding another pickaxe. She recovered with the help of the Imperial mage, readied her bow and said "Baby spiders!" Geminus looked where she was pointing just as an large bolt of ice shot forward scewering the two spiders while Duva took care of the other one, ending its life with an arrow to the fangs.

After the spiders were killed, Bruynzeel, turned to the group and them about the statues being killing machines and their possible weaknesses. He then said he thought he could hear more spiders but they were probably the spawn of their target. Geminus looked over at the spiders and agreed they looked nasty and thought, "If these are the spawn, I'd hate to see the mama." Bruynzeel continued by saying that we might want to wait to loot until we head out as they had to come back the same way. He then congratulated Michael, "Ah that's the mages name," and admonished Duva for being clumsy, who quipped that he should relax with smiled back at him.

Geminus turned his head towards Tappit as he congratulated Michael as well and asked if the spiders were immune to their own poison. "Interesting question," Geminus thought as he watched Duva walk over to the spider she shot and pull out the arrow looking at the tip. Then looked down the corridor asking who wanted to go first.

Geminus slipped his sword back into its sheath and commented, "If those statues come to life, I wonder if a hammer wouldn't do better to smash them apart better than a sword. If you see one, I'd like to use it and try that theory out."

"They are indeed more easily taken down by hammers, it been awhile so I am not sure on whether the spiders are immune to their own poison, but it couldn't hurt could it to try."

"Duva i meant your supposed to be a sneak, so sneak, and lets not alert too many more of the inhabitants of this ruin till we are ready for them."

turns back toward the down angle and draws his Daedric bow, nocks a arrow and proceeds to hug the wall while looking at the opening, and making his decent.

    Andante

Andante followed the others into the ruins, taking a mid position next to Michael with whom she'd remained less than well aquainted with so far. She shugged it off, assuming this would either work for or against them in terms of defending the middle ground, and only time would tell. Her eyes scanned the magnificent, albeit partially collapsed hall of the ruins, catching sight of the massive automatons as the others made mention of them in hushed, hurried voices. "Their armor isn't like that of men..." She responded, almost admiring the craftmanship. "...even the weak points offer no advantages."

Her concentration was broken as Duva caused a bit of noise, tripping over some of the various digging implements left strewn about by whatever failed excavation attempt was last there. Inconvenient at best, she chuckled a little as Micheal helped Duva back to her feet, laughing himself. With a sigh she kicked a round piece of scrap metal and watched as it rolled across the uneven stone floor, clanging to a halt against the far wall. Whatever had happened here, someone had left in a hurry. She looked up as the spiders crawled into view, but did not draw her weapon as they were taken care of quickly.

Approaching the spiders she crouched down and turned one over, pulling on one of it's long legs, and dragging it nearer. "Not quite babies..." She said examining the underbelly of the creature as she let go of it and brushed her hands together. "...adolescents at least, by the looks of it. But, these are small for their age." Leaning over, she unsheathed her dagger and began prying gently at the still dripping fangs, oozing with venom. She bit her lip in concentration, though turned her eyes toward Tappit as he spoke and she smiled a bit at his curiosity. "Immune, no...but...ah, succeptible..." Her dagger broke the hard, fleshy coating around the spider's mouth and revealed a bulbous sac of venom some way behind the fangs. She reached into her bag and produced a slender, dark green bottle and pulled the cork loose with her teeth. Puncturing the sac with the tip of her dagger she coated the blade in the thick, greenish substance and carefully drained it into the phial with quick, and careful precision. She wiped it clean on the spider's belly and sheathed it again, corking the bottle and shoving the body away with her foot.

She held the bottle out to Tappit, the venom witin still unsettlingly warm. "Try it for yourself, if you wish. Its the only way you'll know for sure." Stepping back over the corpses of the spiders, she leaned her ear into the upcoming corridor, hearing a faint, but strong metallic sound. Sharp and repetative, she could hear it deep below them in the ruins, far enough that the others were sure to have not noticed it yet. She sighed, and turned back to the others. "I fear clumsiness and a bit of noise will be the least of our concerns...soon enough."

    Bruynzeel extends his thoughts out looking for all auras in the area, theirs and any others. {That's it make him curious.}{What am I not to use my powers?}{No by all means use every tool in your arsenal. Just remember he senses them. And he is gonna wanna know why soon.}{I have other worries right now, combat matters more than, revealing my nature now, besides I like this honestly living thing.}{Oh but your not being honest, are you?}{What do you mean?}{Well, she still doesn't know you yet, but even so your not being honest with yourself and therefore with her.}{Still not sure as to what you are referring.}{Do I have to say her name? Or remind you of what happened?}{No. I remember well enough.}{I know you do, Always has been a fun time around you.}{You always were mean that way.}

While hugging the downward wall of the slope, carefully stepping over and around loose items and dwemer artifacts and the marvel of a uncovering dig. Amazing what time has done and not done. What memories of mer have been lost and now recovered? I will have to have a talk with Calcelmo someday and discuss his work. The skittering just ahead heard loudly by him over the din of other noises. The shuffling and muffled footpads of his companions. The deep throb from the enigmatic machines in the far reaches of the ruin, the metallic hiss of steam and the far drip of water. Three more spiders come into view at the far end of a room behind the open doorway. Sensing the impending room carefully he decides to draw them down the small choke point of the hall and door. Pulling taunt and over drawing a touch. He looses a arrow striking the last in line. Turning the room into a bedlam of scuttles all headed for their fallen comrade to investigate. Being past their sense range he inhales and holds his breath slowing his perception. looses a second shot at the rear most spider and readies a third. Again the spiders are drawn farther away, but still in sight, there are 5 of them including the 2 dead. And the breath of momma. Steady but definately alert. Loosing the third into the near one this time, the other two turn. And head up the hall as his breath gives out and he starts to draw a fourth arrow...

The curiosity had turned to morbid horror as Tappit watched Andante 'milk' the dead spider of it's venom.
Relieved that she had taken the initiative and demonstrated how this was done but to be so casual when it came to handling the actual creature though? Tappit frantically reached over his head and scratched between his shoulder blades "Gawww Jeeez!!" This place seriously gave him a case of the heeby-jeebys.
Still coming to terms with what he was actually witnessing, Andante slapped the bottle into his hand, advised he try using the poison and then walked ahead stepping over the hairy 8 legged carcasses.

Tappit looked down at the bottle in his hand in disbelief. It was still warm!. He pulled the cork, produced a cloth from his satchel (usually used for oiling his lute), quickly smeared poison along the head of the pickaxe from point to point, then placed the items into his satchel. He couldn't help himself and sniffed the poison coating on the pick-axe. Tappit dry-retched and after his eyes stopped watering, he removed the used rag and bottle from his satchel, wrinkled his nose and placed them on the ground for collection upon return, next to the lantern that had been left behind from the previous expedition.

'Thhhip!'...'Thhhip!' Tappit cocks his head to see Bruynzeel firing arrows down the corridor. 'Thhhip!' Another in succession. This time the 'Thud' of meeting it's target can be heard by Tappit, striking home much closer.
Tappit barely has time to recognise that Bruynzeel has readied another arrow. He picks up the lantern sitting nearby, gives an all mighty wind-up and throws the lantern down the throat of the corridor at the approaching duo of arachnid. The lantern lands just shy of the spiders, smashing on the floor, a combination of glass shards and flaming lantern oil explode around the point of impact. The spiders give out a high pitch shriek as their legs curl up, collapsing onto their backs, dying, engulfed in the small wall of flames.

The smell of burnt hair and meat fills the air...as the flames die out, so does visibility...

"It seemed like a good idea at the time" Tappit mumbles apologetically from out of the darkness.
He whispers "We should continue moving to a better vantage point than idling" Tappit points in the direction the spiders had attacked from...

Realising that nobody can see him pointing "Down the corridor perhaps?" he adds. "Somewhere, anywhere else that has better lighting than here...sorry everyone...it really did seem like a good idea" Tappit starts chuckling "Psst...hey...Michael is the only one I can see right now!!"

    (Spiders.... I... Hate.. Spiders!!!)
Rath shivers in fear. (Cmon Rath don't freeze. Cmon draw the arrow, sight your taget, and let fly. Cmon you can make it through this.)
Rath draws 3 arrows. Pulling back lightly.
(Bruyn will take these when you meet the big one aim for the eyes... Wait!)
Rath puts his bow up and grabs the arrows and clasps them between his hand and uses a flame spell and starts to heat them up. He removes them from his hands seeing the bright red glow of the tips. (Heat combined with speed will slice through and cause extreme pain.)
    "Hey Tappit. You want this?"
Rath unsheathes his dagger and flips it around so the hilt is pionting away from him, while using a flame spell for light.

Tappit politely declines the offer from Rathalos "Thank you sai, but I have a dagger too"
The group flashes back into view as Bruynzeel casts magelight. "I believe there are things in this place that could cause such a phobia sai Bruyn...if you please...let's continue"

    A.Auditore

laughs "Geez Tappit, what's wrong with you? Scared of the dark, next thing he is going to be screaming at the sight of a butterfly... Remember what's not there in the light usually isn't there in the dark...Unless I'm creeping around" turns around and pokes Tappit, then turns to michael "Speaking of pale... A.Auditore

Bruynzeel feeling exhasperated whispers in a harsh tone, while still crouched and arrow ready, to the three playing "Stop kidding around the mama spiders next. Maybe we should be quiet, and concentrate on being professional adventurers. Tappit, nice job with the lamp." then lets Duvaindes take lead and whispers. "The big one will be up high somewhere in the large room ahead. Hug the left wall and try to sneak in to the other side. I'll be right here behind and beside you the whole way. use thief sign for signaling, anyone else know thief sign, or any signs?"

    A.Auditore

    maybe...
looks over to Bruyn, lets out a deep sigh, pushes herself off michael "Fine then" crouches down, hugs the wall to the left with her bow in front and leads the way, treading softly from side to side looking down the long corridor throws her hand up in the stop signal

    Rath sniffs the air.
"Bleh. It smells like death and venom.... We're close." Rath whispers
Rath draws an arrow and starts heating it up.
"I suggest we aim for the eyes."
Rath finishes the heating and draws the arrow in a relaxed position.

"Well if you happen to find a decent hammer, I'd be happy to use it on them." Geminus said with a laugh and agreed with the elf about she said about their armor, then looked a little concerned as Bruynzeel said something about sneaking to Duva.

He then watch with interest as the elf went over to the spiders and pried open the jaws to get to the venom sacks, which she then filled a small bottle with the venom and gave it to Tappit. Who looked a bit shocked as she handed it to him, but then uncorked and sniffed it causing him to nearly throw up. Even with that, he wiped some on the blades of the pickaxe and then left the bottle on the ground.

Just before he heard the sound of a bow loosing arrows nearby, Geminus felt the 'vibe' again. He tried to figure out what it meant, but the divines weren't helping out like the stories he'd heard. He looked around and didn't see anything strange. "Well stranger than a diverse group of adventures wandering Dwemer ruins," he thought. Geminus watched as Bruynzeel took out three more spiders which was closely followed by a oil lantern flying by his head and smashing on the spiders, promptly setting them on fire and filling the place with acrid smoke and nasty smelling burning flesh. "Maybe it was a warning about the spiders," he thought, turning, looking to see who threw the oil lantern and realized, as the smoke started getting thicker that it was Tappit who suddenly looked like he felt really bad for throwing the lantern. "Nice shot," snickerd Geminus as he waved his shield in front of him to clear the smoke which had got a bit thick and blotted out the wierd lighting of the dwemer ruins, that is until someone popped up some magic light above their heads and at the comment from Bruynzeel realized that the khajiit has cast the magic. "So, he's an archer and mage, good to know," thought Geminus.

At the sound of commotion off to the front of him, Geminus looked to find that Micheal and Duva were wrestling around on the ground. They got up and Duva made a comment about shooting a fireball at her, and Micheal looked like he was about to as he raised a hand towards her and fired off... mage light at he causing her to shriek and tackle him again. Geminus could help laugh and watch and was going to step up and split them up for making so much noise when Shew commented that they should be quiet and act like professionals because the mama spider was probably next. They looked like a pair of kids caught with hands in the cookie jar. Then Bruynzeel then told the High Elf to sneak through the next room to the other side because the spider was probably hanging about in the ceiling. "If the smoke hasn't chased her out," he thought, "and what is this 'Thief Sign' the khajiit mentioned?"

Duva then proceeded to sneak off and as she got to the far end raised her arm in a manner like the knights would do to signal a stop. At that Rath commented about death and venom and did a neat trick with magic to heat up the tips of his arrow as they started to glow like just out of a forge. "I thought my pipe lighting trick was cool."

Not having any kind of ranged weapon "Damn, should have brought it with me instead of leaving it with the gear at the inn," he thought, and being behind four other people, he readied his shield an drew his sword, which as it was drawn gave off a faint golden glow that faded quickly. "The mages will probbly recognize the sword as being a Reverent capable sword," he thought, "if they noticed the glow." He crouched down and waited to see what Duva and the rest would do.
