LOL, it is surprising with the amount of crazy stuff we say on the shoutbox :p. But it is a bit frustrating when theres a troll annoying everyone or those darn eggs keep getting posted. Just feel like there should be someone besides a full-on moderator to do something when some sort of situation arises.

Personally, I don't. I feel some, not all, want Shoutbox Mods so they can be one. It could get ugly. I've seen it happen.

Lol.... Whut?
There would have to be a council of some type for this, and a clear set of guidelines to show what these moderators agree on. I agree with Jester, the shoutbox mod system could end up being a power struggle on an inner level. But also, these people would have the chance of creating a sort of "clique" on the shoutbox where certain people are basically blacklisted if they do not agree with the moderators b ut have not done anything to offend the said guidelines.... That's just my thought from what I've read.

Ehhh, the speech doesn't bother me. More or less, I would be concerned with overall flow and bickering that could "get ugly". And as far as the prospect of a moderator, I couldn't (and refuse to) do it at all. I don't have the time or the patience and I have too many other things to do.

Which is probably a good idea to abort the idea, based on the fact that it very well could create "cliques". Good point. Perhaps only light and flexible "Be nice to your neighbor" guidelines would simply suffice.

If you don't use it that much, nor which to address the issues that have come up regarding the Shoutbox. Why are you even posting in this thread?

Bickering and arguments will always happen. Be it in a chat or forum. Treasurehunter got what I was trying to say. I've seen forums and chats torn apart because the Mods/Admins favored some over others.

I use it enough to care, and sometimes when I see things "heat up", it usually drives me off. I'm sorry if you feel that I've somehow "overstepped my bounds" by posting here.

By no means. You have just as much a right to post here as anyone else.

Then everyone has that option. If they don't like what is being discussed, they can easily leave the Shoutbox. Big Brother doesn't need to be sitting in there.

It was just an idea. Nothing more nothing less. I thought the thread was for discussing ideas as are many others.

The only problem I have with the shoutbox is the few tards who don't log in and post all their freaking DragCave dragon eggs and hatchlings on it. I have been playing that game for years, and someone who constantly spams a chatbox with the dragons is just showing that they refuse to understand how the game works. The eggs are not hard to hatch, and they cannot be forced to hatch early with just a large number of views. (For the record, you can only attempt to force an egg to hatch early by using the Earthquake ability that one adult dragon species has.) And just to add, all you need are views, not clicks, so all players of DragCave need to do is plop the dragons in their signature and leave it at that. Attempting to gain a massive amount of views on the dragons does not increase their rate of hatching; all it does is increase the chance to kill them.

That being said, every time someone spams their dragons, it's someone who is not logged in. One or two people who are logged in will post an egg or hatchling and happily exclaim "new egg!" or "it hatched! yay," and that doesn't bother me. They're trying to have a conversation.

Now, the spammers of dragons are not the only ones to blame. Some people have no tolerance, or very little of it, for the dragons in the shoutbox. Okay, the dragons are not hurting or killing anyone. Calm yer tits.

Besides the dragons, I have no issues with the shoutbox. I do feel that if most everyone feels that it should be modded, it should be done in all fairness. I feel that there shouldn't be any flaming allowed, as usual, or nude pictures, or a whole lot of sexual remarks. Skyrim is rated M, so I see no problem with language or a moderate amount of "adult" like remarks. Yes, we have some younger members here, but I've seen very few.

Here's another idea: How about we leave the shoutbox alone and make another chatbox or actual chatroom that only members can take part in?

Also, if the result of this thread really calls for the shoutbox to be moderated, I'd be happy to offer my service for that. I'm on this forum quite a bit, and I check the shoutbox quite often, and I'll even just watch the coversation(s) within it while I'm playing Skyrim or watching TV.

You guys really want the speech police? I'm surprised.

Same here.

Free feel too. But I'm not one for authority. And I'll challenge any attempt at putting a mod in the Shoutbox. The only person I would feel comfortable with that title would be Andante.

I understand that. But, that's what I'm trying to say. I'm not comfortable with anyone else moderating that Shoutbox.

Rath believes Shoutbox is fine and I do not believe it should be members only.
I'll agree when i talk in the SB i dont shut up but its only because im the same in real life.
Plus the guest thing? Let the people speak I actually encourage them to join. Now when you get an annoying one there should be some way to just click a button and kick him out but. hey idk whatever you want just dont get rid of my beloved shoutbox.

Cause then I'll have to spam post ;):p

JK
Rath will be shoutbox mod if you like? But Rath doesn't have membership so I guess thats out of question....

Thank You,
Rathalos Lord of Shoutbox Spamming

Lets not let this guy spoil it for everyone else, we need someone online that would be able to ban this guys IP. I.E some sort of shoutbox moderator whos sensible and active. The behaviour of this guest is really tempting to ban them though.

Troll, I was just coming here to post that. I wish there was some way to kick that guy out of the shoutbox. And I'm sure this isn't the first time something like this has happened.

My parents and I watch my 5 year old niece a lot, and she's often here when I'm browsing the forum. It'd be nice to be able to look at sites like this without worrying that she's gonna walk in and see something like that. Thank God she's not here right now.
