Jeg er stolt. Jeg er sterk.
Considering a new build.

A role-play build that will become the star of a fanfic I'm determined to create. Both Orsimer and Dwemer races have always appealed to me, yet I have always made a Nord character that looked like me, thought like me and acted like me.

It's time to broaden my horizons.

The backgrounds, histories and personal make-up of both my Orsimer and my Dwemer are already decided upon and I have developed a range of arcing storylines, side-stories and various incidental writing opportunities for both.

The overarching quest-line would be a personal vengeance against the Thalmor through varying means.

The Dwemer would return to protect the plain of Mundus from destruction by the Aldmeri Dominion - a key objective that would, according to Aldmer thought, restore them to their once demi-god status of Aetherial spirits. Mundus is obviously intrinsic to the Dwemer, being a race of logic, technology and rationality.

The Orsimer would seek vengeance due to the disdain with which Altmer look down upon the Pariahs. Seeking to protect the Empire that has otherwise provided the Orsimer with a home and afforded them dignity in the most part, they would attempt to battle the Thalmor at every stage, understandably opposed to Mer supremacy.

Both would be exciting and unique builds for me. So the question remains...which one?

Orc :)

How do you backstab a Dragon?
I would think it would be simpler to do Orsimer as there really isn't a creation matrix for Dwemer built in to the game (although there is a great deal of lore, albiet 3rd party).

I always enjoy playing an Orc, particularly if I visit all of the Strongholds and get a good flavour for each of their differences. The built in racial benefits are awesome and they are easier to play morally for me. The enchanting and smithing bonuses are pretty good too.

Good luck, I look forward to reading the fanfic on this.

It's a big hammer.
I just started playing an orc (finally) and she's up to level 20. She's getting scrapped because of the new mage build I like, need to make, but I've really enjoyed the Orsimer. I've enjoyed it from a perspective that the orcs are kind of my perfect race for how I play. Heavy armor, heavy weapon, and lots of in-your-face action. I also found their berserker rage ability awesome. I always get disappointed because I go into a rage and my opponent dies so quickly I have all this extra rage I can't do anything with. My character was a female orc who challenged her chieftain for control of the tribe. Though she won, the patriarchal society pushed her out and crowned a new male chieftain. She left her stronghold with the hopes of joining the Legion in Skyrim and one day having her own stronghold. She got swept up in the Dragonborn stuff and whatever.

My point is, even though I'm rambling, orcs are awesome and even though I only played one for like, 20 levels, I'm going to say that they might be my second favorite race. They just make sense and you can do any kind of story you want with them. I just wish more characters in the game acknowledged your race. Would make it perfect.

I'd definitely say go with the dwemer. Orcs are cool, and I like the strongholds and whatnot, but I made a dwemer character, and it was definitely the most interesting one I've played. Of course, I didn't get too far, but the time I spent on him was pretty cool. I don't know if you play on a PC or not, but if you do, I've seen some nice dwemer mods. I played mine on my xbox, so I used a bosmer and tried to make him look as dwarven as possible, I think just a bosmer with black hair is enough to look like a dwemer. Looking forward to checking out your fanfic.

That's awesome, I was actually considering buying Skyrim on a steam sale just for race mods, but I doubt it'd work on my computer.

Really torn on this one. Can see the benefits and the opportunities for both. And the possibilities are exciting. I'd enjoy playing through as either race and they would certainly appeal to me in a playthrough as they lend themselves to the style in which I like to play.

Absolute conundrum for me at this point...

Why not start playing both for a few hours and see which one draws you in the most?

BRINGER OF DEATH
I haven't done a dwemer, but I have played an orc, and my orc kills everyone that he sees and I spent hours killing whiterun guards when at a low level and eventually leveled up by killing them, then I would do quests just so I could then kill that quest giver afterwords. This is my idea, I will save the world from Alduin, but who will save the world from ME!?!?!?
