What happened to Final fantasy exactly? FFX was the last installment I actually enjoyed. Post FFX was far to "childish" to me. As far as the characters go and the "Come on guys, we can do it!" mentallity, if you know what I mean. All the previous installments had a more, I don't want to say "Adult" theme, but a more engaging storyline for my age demographic. (27)

FF3 with Kefka slaughtering the Espers & fighting in the arena, FF7 with Sephiroth murdering Aeris (Can't rememeber if that's her name) & chocobo breading. FF8 battling the evil queen & the addictive card games....all downhill after FFX. I could care less about the next FF release, what a shame.

Forgot about Mass Effect, I hope they bring back the rover exploration for ME 3.

agreed, I hated playing ff xii and xiii, they were very, as you say, childish. there was no sense of Maturity.
A good example of FFX having a mature content was when Seymore (this blue haired dead guy) rampagin through his species town and forcing Yuna to marry him, and Rikku's freaking hot outfit!!!!

1. See #3 on PC with Mods to fix everything and add what you like
2. See #3 on consoles with tweaks to the options to make it smoother and more reliable (turn autosave off, etc)
3. Skyrim (with Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn)
4. Skyrim (with Dawnguard and Hearthfire)
5. Skyrim

Honestly, Skyrim is the only RPG I've ever enjoyed. I've never liked any of the Final Fantasy games, played Dragon's Dogma and thought it wasn't even a shadow of what Skyrim is, played Oblivion but found it just too dated (I'd played Skyrim first).

ps, this is a semi-joke. I know there's loads of excellent RPGs out there, and I am a very long way from being any sort of expert on RPGs. From what I've seen though, Skyrim's had little to no competition in its field these past few years.

I loved FF10, but I agree, they are definetly going down hill. I tried to like th 11th installment and the best drawcard was Yuna's skimpy outfit with guns! Iv only played 15hours of FF13 and its been a struggle to play even that much. You shouldnt have to push yourself to play any game, let alone a game that hails from 1 of the best fantasy series available.
