Whereas he did produce some good music throughout the years, I don't much care for Jeremy Soule's earlier work. That said, he has finally produced an ambient soundtrack that manages to give me the occasional goose bump or spinal shiver at well-placed intervals. Specifically, the music in the Nordic ruins is near a perfect fit.

While the characters in Skyrim still suffer some of TES's historical woodenness, the world itself still manages to be interesting (though not better) in its own way, horizontally to Morrowind, and Oblivion's Cyrodiil.

I don't much care for the dragon fights because I don't think they're executed well, but I cannot deny that the TES series and Skyrim otherwise have one of the better fictional dragon mythologies, especially regarding the dragon shouts. I love language and the fact that a spoken language can emit actual power endears me to the game and its main premise.

Three things that make Skyrim awesome...

Marriage and kids, building my own home, or how about the fact that there are different climate areas?

I could list some things that would have made Skyrim even better...
small list:
The ability to make spells?
People actually recognizing me as Dragonborn
Or more options for marriage...such a limited amount of women lol
Or the option to turn off the damn kill-cam? That would be sweet lol

But I love this game!

Oh!!! I forgot to mention, and I love this effect, but taking the Red Skooma, and Tree Sap. love the screen distortion!! Wish mead and other alcoholic beverages had the same affect!!

How do you backstab a Dragon?
1) Endless random encounters (even those that don't make sense!)
2) The ability to actual RP (you don't have to do the main questlines at all!) and the game is still actually fun
3) Having 4 active toons at any given time and switching up from week to week for variety.

I know this is a fourth, but the incessant glitches (mammoth rain, horker bombs, balancing NPCs, dragons doing idiotic things like crashlanding in to a house, etc...)

-Exploration. I only really play this game because of it! I kind of have OCD-tendencies to complete every map marker I find. I once trekked over 50% of Skyrim on foot because I kept finding more and more barrows, caves, forts, etc. I also have the need to explore every nook and cranny of everything for items. I grew up watching Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones so my love for ancient tombs and architecture is great.

-Books. Even if the font is atrocious, I genuinely like reading some of them. Especially the lore/history ones. I had to console-command (another perk, I'd say) to increase my carry capacity to over 10,000+ in order to make room for all my collectible items--books included.

-Housing. Not just the buyable houses/plots, but the abandoned shacks/shelters you'd find littered about Skyrim that you can unofficially call your own. I was also incredibly fond of the small cozy dorms of the Winterhold College. And decorating these living spaces with the items like cheese wheels, alchemical ingredients, books, fine china, etc, just makes it awesome.

That being said, I wish they would add more depth to romantic relationships. Quality over quantity over these sorts of things, imo.

  • Definitely the kills cams, seeing as they can be extremely hilarious sometimes.
  • Lore, but that's more of an over-all TES thing.
  • Marriage and followers, because yeah.

Speaking of which, what is the "safe" storage at the alchemists shack? Is it the nighttable? My newest character is not doing quests (other than DB & TG) and needs a home.

Great customisation when creating characters

Streamlined levelling, making it faster and less facetious, really.

You can lose hours upon hours to this game and not only not get bored, but will happily start from scratch with new build ideas (even if the build turns out to suck).

You seem a decent fellow. I hate to die.
The buzzing bees.

A well-placed and well-timed arrow shot. From a good distance.

The grandeur of it all.

- I would definitely say the marriage too. The adopting a kid mechanic is cute as well, though I'd pick marriage over it. (Though I will agree that there should be more to the marriage system. I feel it's lacking interaction that the game is capable of -For example, your partner comes up to you "I found this flower and picked it for you" and hands you said flower. Cheesy romantic stuff like that.)

- Followers are definitely fun to have. Makes exploring seem less lonely and if they have extended dialogue, like Marcurio being a smart-mouth every 10 or so minutes, it adds to it. I'd add creation kit to this list, but my reason for it falls behind the followers point. I've made so many bosmer and altmer follower mods because vanilla Skyrim seems to be lacking in that area

- All the lore as well. It's so deep in it that it's fascinating to me.
