My current character is level 77, done with Winterhold, Companions, super close to both thieve's guild & dark brotherhood. I've logged a few thousand hours between 4 characters on both consoles. I currently play on xbox and have all the DLC that I've not touched.

I took an interest in customizing my houses as soon as I started playing. At first, and sometimes still - frustration at the "ease" or lack there of in placing items. I've learned a lot through patience and practice and thought I'd share a few pics of my Breezehome. Breezehome is my base, and while I've started Vlindrel Hall it's not too far along yet. I will place a few items, then go questing when I get frustrated. I've learned that different items have different "pinch points" (where you seem to holding it from, the center of the drag or nudge) and "bottoms" (where they like to land, despite what seems to be logical orientation) - and even realizing that my angle in relation to where I want an item can make all the difference. I can get almost anything like I want it. I use mage & candlelight to see better, a piece of clam to nudge items and surfaces to flip/turn item stuff.

Take a moment to notice that not only do the helmets face nicely, but all the labels on both the potions and mead/wine/tiny skooma bottles face out. Things will fall and settle on occasion, not too often - but I do have to fine tune. Forgive picture quality, phone-shots of TV. I hope you enjoy the time that went in to this :). If anyone else has pics of their decorations, I'd seriously love to see what you've done.

Damn, that is some attention to detail! Nicely done.

I once decorated Breezehome in dwemer goods, it was very shiny and attention grabbing but slooow and frustrating. Now I avoid both decorating and dwemer ruins where possible :)

Very nice, especially with the amulets. I can never get even two of those next to each other without knocking the other one off.

WOW! That is so cool :) well done.
I like to do a little decorating myself. I put the bug in a jar in my kids rooms.
I like to have a pile of different staffs leaning in a corner, and I also have a bunch of vale furs stacked along one wall. Down in the cellar in the darkest corner I put glowing things, like torch bug thorax, deathbells, gleam blossoms and centurion dynamo cores.
Just to make the place look a little more lived in.

That's a good idea. I sometimes put two torches in a bucket (burning end down -- don't ask me how it works). That's easy to do and provides a nice soft glow for those dark corners. I never thought about the other lightsource thingies you can find though.

Clever idea with the torches in a bucket... I never thought of that!

How lovely! I especially love the arrangement of the fruits in the basket. Its looks so homey and natural, almost like a Renaissance still life. I used to do similar, albeit simpler things in my Breezehome. Mostly, I just liked to decorate with flowers - get them to stay on shelves, on endtables, in baskets. It added a really beautiful burst of color to the house. Strangely, I never really felt the compulsion to decorate other houses.

Of course, it had nothing on my Benirus Manor in Oblivion. I would go out on flower-collecting expeditions just to get enough to fill the house. I lined up alternating rows of flowers on every single windowsill, stuck at least one sprig of something colorful on every single table and cupboard. I viewed it as my character's retirement home, an oasis of peace and quiet after the adventuring is done.

Thanks. I am currently collecting torches and cores to light up Severin Manor on Solstheim.

How do you backstab a Dragon?
May I assume that all of you that were able to actually decorate are on PC? Whenever I try it on PS3, whatever I place ends up on the floor somewhere when I come back to the house. Wish I could do it.

No, that happens on PC too. I have to drop everything, leave the building, save, log out and back in. After that things will stay where you place them. Try that and see if it works on your platform.

Thank you. I shall.

When in doubt, follow the fox.
Wow, great job. I love the jewelry and the helmets.

Wow, I really appreciate all the positive feedback. It did take a long time, none of the finished scenes was done in one sitting - it was a slow process. I will continue to decorate and look forward to sharing more pics, may be I can figure out how to make an album or something.

Happy Adventuring.

It's all been said already so I'll just say it again quick; WOW! Very nice for sure. I know that took plenty of time to do.

i do this myself actually "tho not as diligently as you" i often find it much funner to decorate my own home rather than buy them.. the only reason i collect every skull i find, i had my breeze home so full of skulls one time that lydia couldn't even move! she just walked in place, it was hillarious! lol and once in solitude i turned the spare room in proudspire manor into a gold vault, had thousands of gold ingots stuffed in there.. usually if an item looks cool but isn't useful i always find a table or something to drop it on, good stuff and glad to know i'm not the only one who does this, feel less awkward now.. :D

You like skulls that much? Ooh boy, you and Crotch Guzzler would get along swimmingly.
