Wow, there really is still someone on the planet who thinks totalitarian regimes just suddenly poof into existence overnight.

How's the weather in your little dream world child? Don't worry though, it will dawn on you eventually...though it will most certainly be too late. All I can say is enjoy yourself in the years to come...if you make it.

What the hell are you talking about?

I think everyone can agree that the ACA has some issues that it both created and failed to solve. It is, at best, a tourniquet on the gushing wound that has become the healthcare system. Yet it has also had some astounding benefits:
95% of Americans with health insurance will notice a reduced cost to their premiums in 2014.
80% of Americans with no health insurance will be be insured in 2014.

The numbers have started coming in, and they're showing that even the half hearted attempt created by a congressional subcommittee can make massive strides towards something better.

But are the care plans better? Sure paying less in premiums is great but at the sacrafice of having to pay more to get care then its worse than we were before...

Yes.

The ACA set a minimum-standard for what insurance must cover, and while some policies might attempt to lower quality to cheat the system, overall the new system provides far better coverage than was previously available, even at the extravagant prices being demanded.

Not necessarily, high deductibles and out of pocket costs make the coverage pointless. You could still end up paying as if you don't have insurance in the first place. The majority of people will not meet the $5000-$10000/yr deductible that must be met before the insurance will start to cover anything.

Even with the 'Bronze Plan', the maximum you can pay out of pocket per year is under $6500 a person, which is INCREDIBLY small for a full on emergency, which is exactly what that plan is for.

If you're planning to go to the doctor more regularly, you should opt for the higher-tier plans, which with tax credits are less than 25% of what they would have cost you prior to ACA.

To clarify; my wife's work doesn't provide family insurance and I'm a contractor so I have no insurance at all. Currently, the premium for us to get Group Health insurance is $900 a month. Please note, this is decent coverage but not top tier and not at all out of the average. As of tomorrow, we'll be able to enroll in the same coverage for $250 a month once the minimums are set in, and the state discount is applied.

Your out-of-pocket costs are different from deductibles. If you have a $5000 deductible you must meet that before your health insurance kicks in and starts paying. After that you still have an out-of-pocket limit of (I'll use your example) $6500. This means that in the case of an emergency you will still be financially responsible for up to $11500 not including your co pays. That is assuming that the doctor is participating. If he is not then you could still be responsible as if you have no insurance at all.

Apologies, you are correct about the coverage amounts of the Bronze plan. The bottom level plan certainly lives up to the responsibility of being the bottom! It is important, though, to note that taking that plan would be completely optional. If you're concerned about going to the doctor, simply enroll in one of the better plans. Personally, my son and I are going to the Silver Plan; his vaccines and checkups will hit the $2k easily, and I seriously only go to the doctor when I have an appendage missing. For the two of us, the plan is perfect!

The problem still lies in the fact I am now REQUIRED to get insurance I DON'T WANT. If I need to go to the doctor in an emergency I will deal with the financial fallout. Thats a fluffing personal choice. This gives the government complete control over my health system and I am not a fan. I'm neither republican nor democrat and given the choice I'd say screw both parties but in the case of this ACA thing its bull plops and the government knows it.

By the way for those who think its too late to change anything. THE fluff IT IS. I'm an American citizen I have the right to vote. If I feel my government is not doing its job I am given the right to legally change it. the "its too late" crowd is what got us to this fluffing mess.

You don't have to get insurance Utael, only pay a fee if you want. But you are definitely right about not getting to vote for it. I think the american citizens should be allowed to vote on the issue.

Well I either have to get insurance or pay a fee sounds like a fluff fest for me either way...

haha Let the republicans shut the government down and make themselves look bad. It stopped tax audits, but it didn't stop the Affordable Care Act. So, they only ended up screwing over their own constituents.

So Now that the Goverment Shut down is all done.

...It's nice to know that Obamacare is Doing SO well now!

Hargood

Defender of Helpless Kittens
LOL...What? No one responds to this because you find it irrelevant now?

...Of course you do.

Oh well, atleast we have all learned a Great Lesson in all of this:

"When you have an engine and it is making horrible noises, Don't shut it down to fix the problem... Oh No no no. You need to listen to the whiny, ill-informed, crying public and Run that Sucker till it Blows the fluff UP!" =D

I think now i'm am done with the liberal party and their "Oh it's ok if we lie to you because we are the good guys" crap that everyone else seems so eager to eat.

Why don't you give it some time, Hargood?

As far as the "good guys" go, I suppose wanting to help poor people is evil... Who are the ones supporting the rich in this country and doing everything they possibly can to stop any government aid to poor and middle class people? hmmm...

What are we supposed to do? Go back to the way things were before? Please. What we had before was a vacuum that did nothing but suck up billions for the health insurance death panels. Even a well-to-do family could be crippled if one of the members of the household contracted a life-threatening illness like cancer.

Who are the ones bitching? I hear a lot of bitching about Obama and the Affordable Care Act from the right, but I don't see any ideas. Only name calling and a complete unwillingness to try anything progressive.

NO IDEAS?!?!?!?! Ok, here's an Idea what should have been done instead of this burning ship called Obamacare.

Ready?:

"Reform Medicare and Medicaid so that it works and serves are Citizens better!!!"
(If you don't know what those are, Look that up cause im not explaining it anymore)

Do you think that's a stupid Idea? .. well YOU voted for it. You voted for it because it was what OBAMA ran on in 2008!!!!! HE SAID THAT..but he didn't do it! It was one of those lies Media "Tit-sucking" liberals Looooooooooooooooooooooooooove to forget about, if they even payed attention who they were even voting for to begin with.

Oh and there are PLENTY of other idea's. Having a freakin Circus with Americans healthcare was not the "End all Idea" anyone could come up with. Far from it. The only problem is that you have to get the American 'Dictator and Chief" to listen... and he obviously doesn't want to listen. He's proven that. If he used someone elses Idea it would detour from his "Epic Presidential Legacy". (Guess who loves the term "Obamacare" most off all... Obama, True Story.)

And I say one can only use the excuse of "Well Obamacare is just Romneycare", if that Brain dead liberal can post an essay about the diffrences between "State Goverment" and "Federal Goverment". Then I might, ...just might, have hope that they know what they are spouting.

It always seems that supporters of this "Fiasco" idea think that "We need Health coverage to be equal for everyone.... So it ALL NEEDS to SUCK Ballz!" So for that, I will say Mission Accomplished.

And believe me when I say "I will give this a chance. We will see where this goes". Oh yes, because what is going on now is NOTHING compaired for whats down the line on this one. I'll also warn you that "Alittle Website Not working is the Least of our worries". You don't even know yet. We will see the lovely wonderful workings of your copay in a "Competitive Market Place" that isn't "Competitive" nor a "Market Place" because it's ALL regulated by the Federal Goverment. I'm making a Safe bet you haven't even signed up for this yet. Had you done it you probably have seen the problems that everyone else is having. It wouldn't even matter if you find this whole thing "Miraculous and Awesome" compaired to the other people in the population that are having major, major problems right now. If you can't understand that, then understand that when the Liberal News Media stops defending this president on something .....It's HAS to be bad. (Even Ol Bill is distancing himself from this so Hillary doesn't get hit with the crap of it when she runs in "16"). Well, again.. Yep we will see. Why? We have too or the IRS will come after us.

.. Well this is unless you are a Democratic Congressman, or part of a Liberal Union. They supported this, but want to be voided from having to participate because the plan isn't good enough for them. Funny is't it?

But all in all, Let this be another Lesson that "We aren't Canada". You know that country that's population is not even the size of our 1 state or California? ..Yeah, thats not us.

But one thing you could do to make this all alittle more soft on the public is maybe write an apology letter to "all dem Rich Peoples" you want to bring the country down for so you can bite their ankles alittle bit. After that, write them a "Love Letter" about how much you adore them for being the only ones in this country that are going to be paying for most off all of this craziness, and how that if you had gotten your wish of them all dieing in a horrible crash, that their would be no one to pay for anything the Liberal party wants to dictate to the American People. You should be proud of them right now. You should be thinking of them as "The Cow we will steal milk from"... and every cow needs alill looove.

And for every other liberal: Vote Liberal, act liberal and believe every Hollywood idiot Idea's that could buy your Neighborhood with the funds of One of their lil "After partys" about being liberal.... But just don't support utter crap like this already. People that have half a brain will step away form your party completly.

..like me,cause Im DONE!
