i recently lost my little helper lydia due to some draugr scum killing her.is there anywhere i can get another helper?

yes, you can go find another follower. there are many, if you want to "buy" one you can find another in the drunken archer or what ever store in whiterun.. She will be sitting there at a table for 500 coin. there are many other followers you can get as well.

food for thought: your follower can only die if you kill her or area kill.. when your follower gets low on health they will drop to a knee to recharge. Now while your follower is down if you hit them with an arrow/sword/spell/fire etc they will die.. Or if they go down and a dragon is burning them they can die due to the fire.. But if your follower goes down to one knee, the enemy will leave them alone to recharge..

all i used her for was to carry goods i found to sell,she always got in the way in battles.

At the inn in Whiterun there is a chick in armor sitting at a table, fist-fight her and she will offer to follow you. I didn't have to pay her.

ah,yeah,now,i had a fistfight with her a while back and i may have accidently hit an innocent bystander,anyway.weapons got drawn and people got killed i got arrested and she may be dead.
