Ok so ..I was currently in my "Hearthfire Falkreath house" And I'm decorating etc. etc. storing items as well...And I go into the kid's room and look at an empty display case , and I start to think to fill it with a item I'm carrying of high value and rare...So I decide to place the MOROKEi Mask in the display case as doing so I dropped the mask from inventory and shortly afterward the musician which is mainly always down stairs when I'm there had walked up the steps I suppose .. So right after I dropped it he appears saying something like this ; "oh that's nice armor you got there, if you don't need it anymore i'll be glad to take it, th:Dragonborn: en there's an option (I clicked No don't touch it) Then upon leaving the room he continues with :Don't leave it laying around someone might take it or something or another like that.I then followed him & told him I no longer needed his services and also pickpocked him as he walked out to make sure he didn't take anything! Anyone else know this thief musician???! lol

It's pretty common for NPC's to react to dropped items like that. I understand you can use this fact to launder stolen goods, but I've never tried it myself. On a sidenote, leave the display cases alone unless you want to pull all of your hair out and throw it on the floor. They are bugged and annoying as s**t if you are in to decorating, like I am. I did have decent luck with Dragon Priests Masks, but even those would end up respawning on top of the display case a lot of times.

I hate display cases...

I've had NPC's kill each other because I accidentally dropped something. Fight to the death for my things, only then are you considered worthy.

Agreed, display cases are very complicated and not very useful..

It's very disappointing as I would much rather display my trophies and artifacts. But alas, stuffed into a chest they go.

Only the Vanilla homes work for me , best imo is Hjerm in Windhelm . I have never had any problems with the cases for weapons. Hearthfire is good I really like the celler for making stuff . The other problems are really a shame , with H.F. homes to many problems .

The most stable home I've found in terms of having decor stick and not glitch in weird ways is Severin Manor in Raven Rock. I've never really used the Windhelm house (Windhelm is my least favorite city). Living in Raven Rock can be really inconvenient from a gameplay standpoint however.

Severin Manor is really good. I did have some Problems with the Armor dummies in my last play through . I was on an old X-Box , now I got a new one and am hoping Severin will work for me , this console has lots more power .

The armor dummies are just as weird in Solstheim as Skyrim...
