looks like comapanions are in the lead. anyone ever done the db quest with a pure mage? cause my pure mage is in the dark brotherhood and its hard not to get bounties
I have done this at least twice now. It's entirely possible to run through it with only one bounty, which is the one you automatically receive right after killing Vittoria Vici. I suggest you use Illusion a good bit, as well as taking the Quiet Casting perk. Casting it in sneak mode(not being detected) should not give you a bounty of any sort as you aren't caught doing anything supposedly illegal. Once you exit out of sneak mode and allow your target to hit you at least once, that's where you're allowed to "defend yourself". There are times where when guards or other townspeople help you, they end up killing your target for you. There is also the chance that you will have to deliver the final blow as the person you cast it on will only stagger when they are near death.

Of all the guild principles, I enjoy the Dark Brotherhood the most. Being an assassin is just awesome; as the little girl at Honorhall Orphanage said, "Kill one person and solve so many problems. I wonder at the possibilities." However as far as game play goes, I got the most out of being a member of the Thieves Guild. The Skeleton Key, epic Nightingale Armor, more merchants with more money, and being able to pay off the guards at a discounted price all came in handy.

We certainly do! It'll always be home. Just like, no matter how much better I could do I can't bring myself to not marry Lydia.

Lol being an assassin/rogue character Lydia is far to ogre like for me. I sent her to Sovngarde.
As for my favorite guild, it has to be thieves.

The Thieves Guild. The Nightingale Armor alone makes it the top for me.

The Companions could have benefited from having better armor, as they only give you the wolf armor and boots. The Dark Brotherhood was very good too, particularly after the failed attempt at the Emperor. I rushed through the storyline afterwards.

My favourite joinable faction is the Thieves Guild, although I like the Forsworn more than any other faction in the game. Currently working on a mod to expand them a little; allowing the player to join them and hopefully adding some new weapons/armour/items/spells (although I've never made models or textures before, could be interesting)

I like killing people, so the Dark Brotherhood's my favorite. Whenever I'm bored or need some cash, I can just talk to the Night Mother and bash some dude's face in.

Theive's Guild, although, if you pay attention to the quests they're really empire bias, which I don't like. I want them to be more like the vagabonds that they were in Oblivion. They lost all of the cool Robin Hood morals and just became septum-whores. They're fun though... *sigh*. The collectibles are exceptionally good.

Also, they live in a sewer; a SEWER. How about a super-secret mountain cave-hideaway behind a waterfall next time. I mean, seriously, BANDITS have cooler hideouts than the Ragged Flagon.

The companions are also fun, especially for the werewolf parts, but they never have a cool vibe; just the lame, generic warrior trash. At least they're more fun than Oblivion's lame fighters guild.

The one cube to rule them all.
Companions all the way. I'm all for the steal-it-all ideas that the Guild has, and it's fun smashing in doors and reducing baddies to mush with my sword as a messenger of death for the DB, but hey, the Companions may be a bit bland, but they're fun. I liked their story the same as the DB and better than the Guild's, but their members are great, Aela is my wife, and well, werewolves because fluff bandits and anyone who is associated with bandits.
