I'm 31, my games of choice BEFORE Skyrim was my yearly purchase of the EA Sports NHL series (since about '93 i think?), and COD: Black Ops, few months ago purchased Battlefield 3 and COD: MW 3 and neither appealed to me as much as Black Ops did originally. THEN I found Skyrim....and am now hooked. It's my first TES game and I love it!

36 here. Love this game and all types of games. Buy a MLB the Show game every year, own fighting games like Tekken and Mortal Kombat, have a racing wheel for GT, head shots in COD or Battlefield, like the puzzles and action in Ratchet and Clank specially with my kids, and absolutely love MMO's of all kinds old and new...yes even World of Warcraft!

Skyrim is a special game, but I most say that this forum is a part of my Skyrim enjoyment. Because there is no multiplayer in Skyrim, I come here to see what others have done, see what they have accomplished, read thier stories, ask a few question and maybe help out a new player when possible. Same things that i would do in a multiplayer game. This forum has in a way extended my Skyrim experience, in a good way!

So Maturity of the forum?.... IDK, I just like!

It can't be possible....Commodore 64 mentioned TWICE in the SAME thread**slaps own face***and I thought I was the only one. Loading games from a cassette was insane, wow that takes me back. I can do one better even, an old friend of mine had a TSR 80. Oops off topic.

That's TRS-80 Sir. The icon of computing on which I learned Level 1 and Level 2 BASIC, and on which there were so few bells and whistles that the owner's manual actually bragged about being able to remove the black EAR plug from the cassette backup system and hear the data transfer noise.

I used this mighty thinking machine to program a roulette wheel game, which was the first computer game I ever played. It took me close to 150 lines of code to display one quarter of the wheel and have the numbers in the boxes change randomly. Then came the really cool part: where the game chose one of 10 pre-written smart alecky ways to say "You Lose". Using a second RND generator to make the choice a surprise.

A few years later, when I wanted to play Wizardry, I had to go to my friend's house around the corner. He had an Apple. My friend upstairs got an Atari 400 eventually, which we could play Loderunner on. At my house, I had by then moved up to Zork. CRPG at its finest - and more smart alecky responses.

I've played video games my entire life, 28 now. Started from regular nintendo like mike tyson punch-out and super mario. Moved to Sega Genesis, to PS0ne, to PS2, to finally the PS3.

I loved the GTA series, San Andreas being my favorite. Fell in love with Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess. I just love adventure and open world games. Skyrim is also my first Elder Scrolls game, but they have found a life long fan from now on. Anything they do, I will be watching.

By far, the greatest video game I have ever played.

My first "console" was the Mattel Intellivision, good times...
there was a D&D game that was serious awesomeness!!!

The Progeny of Vikings
27 here, started playing in the early 90s with our 286 computer. My first games included classics from Sierra such as Space Quest, Leisure Suit Larry (I know, not exactly appropriate for a 6-year old, but that man and his suit taught me a lot about the birds and the bees  ), Quest for Glory etc. Hard to say which is my favorite genre or niche.. perhaps RPGs, especially fantasy ones. My most unforgettable game so far has probably been Baldur's Gate 1, and to a lesser extent its sequels. There was something magical about that game, as I had only played those old D&D gold box-games before I was introduced to it. And then I am tossed into this utterly captivating fantasy world with an awesome plot, musical score and gameplay.. I was instantly smitten. No game since has matched the feeling I got from it, not even Skyrim. I was 14 when I first played it and I still find myself humming the soundtrack sometimes and feeling nostalgic.

Other classic games spring to mind, too.. Wolfenstein 3D, one of the first quasi-3D games, shortly followed by Doom and Doom 2, both of which I had an immensely good time with. And then came Duke Nukem 3D; I played the hell out of that one during the summer when I turned 12.

Other games that I've enjoyed over the years include the GTA series (especially San Andreas, as someone above said), Black and White 2, Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-earth 2, Gears of War, the Halo games etc. I tried to play Morrowind but couldn't get into it for some reason. The world felt too sterile and alien, somehow. But I did enjoy Oblivion!

Yep, this is definitely something which is generally really good here.

I started on the 48k ZX Spectrum in the early / mid 80s (with the rubber keyboard :D) and played games like Jetpac, Sable Wulf, Deathchase etc. I remember there was a game called 'Daley Thompson's Decathlon' that came out and it was very popular. We're talking about the time when 'Track & Field' was at the height of its popularity in amusement arcades. I managed to buy the game, but it was notorious for crashing at the end of the load. As others have mentioned games were cassettes back then and it took at least
5 minutes to load :D. It was so frustrating and kept crashing every time for me. I ended up having to return it to the shop and exchange it for a crap motorcycle game called 'Full throttle'.

Another memory I have is of typing in the code taken from a computer games magazine. The code was for a really rubbish game. I'd been entering the code for nearly 2 hours and was getting towards the end, when my mum came into my bedroom to get some clothes off the radiator. Before I'd had chance to warn her to stay away from the dodgy power lead to my computer she'd already knocked it and I lost the whole lot:D. I'd not had the sense to save it at any point.

Happy days.

C64 forever... started loving RPGs when introduced to a starkly coloured Bard's Tale 2 in 1988, then Pool Of Radiance was released by TSR and I was hooked. Funnily enough, POR's storyline has a couple of similarities to Skyrim, best game I've played since then i think.

Well, for one you don't have to worry about 10 year old using profanity against one another because someone stole there care package on Black Ops.... just saying

My first machine was a Commodore PET with 4k (yes, you read that right) of memory. I remember that, when I upgraded to 32K, I was sure I was set for life. WIthin a month I had written a game that used literally every byte.
Since others are outing themselves: 69 years old.

I've always considered myself more of a FPS gamer (Halo, COD). I have tried RPGs before and always got bored quickly. Skyrim is the first one that I have not got bored of and I actually enjoy playing for hours at a time. I bought the latest COD game when it came out and I still haven't opened it :)

Yep, hilarious AND educational.. at least for a 6-7 year old! :D I still remember the first one fondly, with its clumsy pixelated graphics and beeping sounds.. ah.

Gosh , i just remembered my first machine was the ATARI 2600.... I HAD to have the ZX Spectrum when they released Ghosts'n'Goblins for it. My parents probably bought it for me 'cause they thought it would be good for my career to get into computers at an early age.... ah....

The second best game I ever played after Skyrim remains GTA San Andreas, and it beats Skyrim in some ways. Flying, for one.

Lol.... Whut?
I'm 21. I've been playing video games since I was about eight years old. Started off with the Tekken series on playstation. Then I moved on to 007 Goleneye, and Mario party/kart/tennis, Super smash bros. on the N64. I was always taught to be a fair competitor and a strong loser, so I had no trouble with competition from the other players.
Online gaming is much more different. I silence most mics when I play COD because all I hear are cusses and taunts. Skyrim allows me to fully challenge myself in areas of logic, tactics and preparation. It's been a steep learning curve after a few months of shooting dinkerts, but I'm glad I stumbled upon this forum. The idea of roleplaying my character didn't occur to me until then.
Plus, I was almost bursting with the need to tell people about my adventures in Skyrim. I could tell the people who weren't fans were getting bored.

Lol the life of a gamer. I started with an old Acorn computer that loaded games from cassette, it was probably less specy than a 286 computer. Then got my first NES>SNES>N64>PS1>PS2>XBOX>PS3>XBOX360 and i have a Wii as a paperweight. Chuck in a gameboy or two and ios gaming and yes... im a bit of a gamer.

Hey everyone!

I have been a lurker here for a while, digging for info about this fantastic game, but I figured it was time I introduced myself, and this thread seems as good a place as any!

I am another first generation gamer, starting with Coleco-vision Pong, Atari Video pinball, (with Breakout!) and Atari 2600. My first foray into computer games was an Apple II+ .(Castle Wolfenstein! Ooooh yeah!) I have been a pc gamer for years, and was hooked on World of Warcrack for a while. I got tired of the Gaming PC arms race, and hours of tweaking, so I am playing Skyrim on an Xbox 360. (and it cost far less than my last video card!)

I have spent many hours on various forums over the years, and I agree that this one is particularly civil!
