Do you create a stupid looking character or good looking one?

So, I am the type to always make my guy or girl, look as idiotic as possible. I do this in every game I play. Maybe I like getting a laugh from people for my character, but I just think it's more fun to be random with a character. Anyways, do you like making dumb looking characters? Or do you want your guy or girl to look awesome?

Inquisitor Saken

polan can into space?
I tend to make a silly character at the start while I figure the game out a bit, and when I feel like I can start a new game without breaking something like I inevitably did the first time, I do so and put some effort into character creation :]

if I get a new game I'll be too excited about playing it to spend time making my char look pretty :p

Majir-Dar

Confused Khajiit
I always put immense amount of effort into making my character and their back story. They didn't give me the control of how my character looks just to make them look ugly or silly after all. I'm not saying that making an ugly or silly character is wrong, I'm just saying that I would never make one.

Mr Forz

I'm helping. Mostly.
I try to mix both. Nobody's ever going to believe that this Argonian is a paranoid conjurer and enchanter.

I try to make mine look as great as possible

Insanity at its Finest
Well my first character was a khajiit, so I just tried to make them look cool I guess. The the next character I made (a Nord this time) I wanted to make pretty, except for maybe some faint war paint. All was going well until I scrolled through the hairstyles and saw Mohawks weren't just for the males like the cats. And, well...photo(3).JPG

there went that idea.
I went back and made sure the rest of the features fit with the character a little more.

I did most of the Dragonborn quests with Cicero as my follower and wearing the matching jester suit.

Black Orchid

Death Incarnate
I agree with most of the posters here, that I try to make my character look as 'cool' as possible with whatever image I have in my imagination at the time. But there's nothing wrong with making your character look silly if you get enjoyment out of it. I haven't made a silly type character yet, although my Khaajit comes the closest. I mean trying to hide your identity while wearing full Nightingale armor just doesn't work all that well for a cat...o_O

I always aim to create a character whose appearance appeals to me, with both male and female characters.

Oddly, my male characters often end up having a beard although I don't like beards in RL. :D

Jader

The Mystic Marksman
I just try to make my characters look practical. Like making males with muscle mass suitable for their class, same for women,I don't make them have overly large or impractical busts.

I like having pleasant looking characters. I don't care if they aren't drop dead gorgeous, but I don't want them to have a feature that looks wrong or ungainly compared to their other features.

I do kind of base them off myself. I always go for the young unblemished skin rather than the wrinkled older ones as they are close to my real life age. I also tend to give my serious roleplay characters long dark hair, as it is my real life hairstyle. I think long dark hair it is the most attractive and awesome hairstyle ever, so of course my awesome characters must have it as well (yay for mods).

I never give my characters dirt or war paint either, as neither are things I would allow to stay on my face longer than five minutes. Scars are something I don't have on my face and I see clearly out of both eyes so I have only ever given scars to two characters one of whom was also blind in one eye, purely because their backstories required it. I was pleased with how well that one turned out physically. I managed to find a hairstyle which was long in the back and fell forward to cover most of her mangled cheek and half her unseeing eye but be pulled away from the unblemished side.

In females I also go for the skinniest settings because I object to how if you try to make your female more muscular you also double her bra size. Boobs are not muscles, Bethedsa!

I usually style them after myself, but it's not a conscious decision. Actually, it's only something I noticed when I was making my current character. :D They always have blue eyes and are redheads (never mind my avatar pic to the left - I dyed my hair dark for a while, but really hated the messy eye shadow in my eyebrows!). Got a strong jaw, unfortunately, and I usually make their chins somewhat shorter than mine. High cheekbones, which is about the only feature that betrays my Cherokee ancestry.

They're also thin, which springs from my lightning metabolism and almost complete lack of curves.

Overall, they're fun to make and I usually spend a long time on them! :) Next one might be Khajiit just to mix things up.

Yeah I'm not much for the funny character style in my games. I too try to make my character in my image, even if at times it's hard to match it up with myself. Anyways, I have created hilarious characters in games before, but with Skyrim, I just feel a more bad ass character is needed.

I generally go for serious, but if I were playing the likes of Saints Row, I'll make a funny character, because it's a game I can't take serious anyways. But for Skyrim, I make my guy as bad ass as possible. If you want to make a funny character, go for it though.

Hey! Someone stole my sweet roll!
Being a basically shallow guy my characters are always female and always good looking. I figure if I'm going to spend all that time looking at them and working with them I want something good to look at. Plus, for some reason I like playing a female character. Maybe too much "Tomb Raider" and "Bloodrayne".

Although I'll occasionally throw in a non-human character just to mix things up a little.

When in doubt, follow the fox.
I have discovered a deep prejudice within myself on this topic. I MUST be a hot chick, every damn time. I can't bring myself to be a Khajiit, Argonian, or elf. And the MEN of skyrim all look like Neanderthals to me so that's out. I suppose deep down this is true because I roleplay myself in every character. ;)

How do you backstab a Dragon?

I agree. Either hot chick or great looking dude (although I do play Argo or Khajit, but only if they're really cool looking - I had one argo I did in red & black and he kind of looked like Darth Maul and my Khajit usually look like tigers). Currently my high elf just looks like a really attractive & tall blond human guy with pointy ears and really, really green eyes.
