Why change the past when you can own this day?
I think this will turn out to be a really interesting story. I look forward to taking part in it with everyone. :D

    As am I!

Okay, so, the staging location for this RP is probably going to be Whiterun. I suppose the easiest way to do this is to have Marcus post a note up on the tavern with the job offer. However, if you can think of a unique and creative way your character ends up being recruited, please, do use that (you may want to do some brainstorming and shoot some ideas off of us in here before posting). I hate having to use the cliche tavern scene, but it is the most straightforward way of going about this.

Hmm. Could Fen have written Marcus already, expressing interest in helping him find his father? I kind of wrote something along those lines in my CC, but I guess I should make sure that would work out. :p

Well, Melee, how would she know he had just decided to start looking for his father? How would she even know that Darius had disappeared? He lived secluded and isolated.

Hmm. I guess that's true. I'm just assuming that as scholarly and dedicated to Dwemer artifacts as he was, he was bound to at least be known by other Dwemer enthusiasts. That would at least explain her knowing about who he was. Maybe she could be in Whiterun for something and notice the letter posted while she's out?

Or would you rather she not know who he was at all? That will make it a bit more difficult to come up with how they would meet but it could be done. :p

It would make sense that he would be known by enthusiasts, yeah. However, not his work. He kept his work highly secretive, and never shared it with anyone besides himself. Perhaps Fen knew him simply due to his scholarly interests in the Dwemer and not for any particular research or work.

As to how she meets up with Marcus, I'm not sure, really.

Hmm that makes sense. I will have to work on how she meets up with Marcus, but I will change the little bit of her story involving why she wants to help.

Perhaps she could feel like she knows Marcus, because he looks very similar to his father?

Oooh I like that! Good call. :)

I may have Anja travel to Whiterun to see about joining the Companions (she does want excitement in her life and feels it's a noble faction), but will stop at The Bannered Mare for food, drinks, and lodging before going to Jorrvaskr. Upon seeing Marcus' post, she is filled with wonder because she has never stepped foot into a Dwemer ruin and enthusiasm because it might give her some credibility when joining the Companions. She inquires about the job and that is how she meets Marcus.

    Does this sound okay?

Well, Irish, the note he posts up is very brief and vague, mentioning only a need for adventurous individuals willing to assist on an expedition. Details are provided once your character approaches Marcus.

As for your whole jail idea, I'm not sure how well that will work, Wolf. The way Marcus is recruiting will have nothing to do with the Whiterun Prison. He enters the Bannered Mare, impales a note to the wall, and awaits recruits.

Alright, here is the IC. However, you might want to have your plan of recruitment thought and planned out before posting.

Andrewthunder if I may say, while you have the start of a good post, as Del pointed out earlier you might want to work on punctuation and not writing run-on sentences.

Andrew, what I usually do is write out my post in a word processor first. I'll write it in Word or something, and then it automatically looks for run on sentences and spelling errors.

But I agree with Del and OP. Provide more detail, and try to get us to see how your character is really feeling. Give us some thoughts, feelings, and just overall more description. Don't be afraid to take your time. Also, spacing everything out through multiple, separate paragraphs will also make it easier for others to read as well. :)

Yeah, sometimes, a quality RP post will take me several hours to complete (of course, you have to account for distractions :p). Don't be afraid to sit down and spend a good amount of time making sure your post is clean in grammar, spelling and conventions and making sure you are painting a vivid picture. If you find descriptions and detailing hard, don't be afraid to use a thesaurus. They're really helpful if you need some better, juicier words.
