I've a question for all the lore nerds and Argonian lovers. I've been trying to find a solid answer to this question online but have yet to find an answer, so I'm posting it here.

Being that Argonians who leave Black Marsh become too far from the Hist to maintain any kind of bond with their life-givers, would it be logical for an Argonian to worship the Nine(or Eight) in any capacity? Are there any known cases of this happening in any past games? What of your own Argonian characters?

What of the Sleeping Tree? Would there be any connection there? Especially if it was one of the trees that fell off Umbra, if it even is.

Argonians are free to worship any divine or religion they see fit, especially ones that have never even been to Black Marsh. Although this is about as likely as a Khajiit worshiping the Nine. So in answer, I imagine that most Argonians, although they can follow any religion, will always follow the Hist. Although I could be wrong as I'm not that knowledgeable of Argonian lore.

Slightly off topic in regards to the Argonians... I thought I read somewhere that the Khajit do follow the Nine to some degree? If not the Nine, who is it they follow?

They follow their own pantheon. I was using them as an example to illustrate my point, they weren't my main subject.

Thanks for the feedback. My main thing is "as long as it can happen" and they aren't essentially irreversibly tied to worship the Hist.
If I understand your question, the answer is pretty complicated. An Argonian could, if it wanted to, abandon the worship of the Hist. However, this may have negative repercussions towards their health and maybe even their reproduction. To be honest, I don't believe an Argonian would ever want to stop worshiping the Hist, as it's almost known fact that they are irreversibly linked to it. I suppose I could be wrong and excuse me if I am.

Not necessarily stop worshiping the Hist as much as Worshiping the Hist side by side with the Nine? Being that this particular Argonian is slumming about in Skyrim, the distance should make the Hist's presence nothing more than a dull little whisper in the back of his head? Still worshiping the Hist and keeping to certain tradition but adapting to the local religion.
