Played the Reckoning demo over the weekend as a spell caster and was pissed off when the time limit expired so I must have been enjoying it. Plan to play tonight or tomorrow as a melee character to see a bit how the "Moves" system works. I love the return of talent trees in their more traditional presentation. Fate cards seem like cool unlockables but I only acquired the basic caster one. I just hope they allow the player to reselect skills since we have to select fate cards, talents, and some other skill section I found to be less combat related than talents. The fate cards seemed like they can always be reselected but they are based on your talent tree selections. I really hope a respec feature is available, I don't want to reroll a whole new character when I want to change things up.

For me the game is scary close to being "World of Warcraft 360" which is a negative since I grew to hate that game because of the grinding and hamster wheel like gameplay. I only did about 4 quests so one demo play through wasn't enough to sway me greatly in either direction but it did prove this is a promising game, planning at least one more character before I buy the game next week.

Also I love the way enemies attack in waves or at least in groups. I want to be overwhelmed with enemies that I can beat up and slay, this Dragon Age type of battle is something I personally enjoy more than several 1 on 1 battles.

I had a blast o the demo, but to be honest its's the button-mash style combat that doesn't appeal to me.. Also i prefer first person perspective which it doesn't seem to offer..

and altho it might be animated by Todd McFarlane, but I really prefer the realistic visuals in Skyrim

Yep, 99% button mashing and you only need to mash one button! Shocked me to discover this after I read game designer Ken Rolston ("known for his work as lead designer on previous Elder Scrolls titles Morrowind and Oblivion") dub Reckoning's combat as "best" ever along with several other superlatives. Thats total and utter bullplops. You simply press one button and if you press it 2 or 3 times it adds an additional 2 or 3 attacks.

What makes Reckoning differ from Skyrim? The simple answer is that Reckoning has the best, coolest, fastest-paced, most tactile and silly-exciting fantasy combat of any video RPG.
Total lie ^

Its like fable all over again. I simply cannot be doing with that style of fighting. Give me a first person perspective with two hands out in front of me either timing my sword strikes right or dual casting some archaic magick any day

I'm intrigued by this game. The combat is fun and a lot more varied than skyrim.

It's not about the complexity of the buttons, it's about chaining together different attacks and weapons.

I'm not really a fan of the auto-locking on target, but I played the demo and it seemed to work okay. I think I'll rent it and see if I really like it a lot before buying it though.

I'm going to get it. I like the change from the realistic games like Skyrim. I was a big fan of WoW and Fable was a fun game. I played the demo and this seems like a nice combo of both. I could see myself playing this one for a while

Ok im slightly beginning to change my mind about this... I
had an hr or so hands on with the demo n once u escape the dungeon to explore the lush vistas outside, its actually reasonably enthralling.. The combats actually more in-depth than fable and is more fun than i initially gave it credit for...But not sure I could cheat on Skyrim with it.... :-/
