There is no competitive aspect, just play how you want. I'm not racing by any means, I just can't stop playing. I really focus on leveling my skills while out and about, so I do level faster than someone who wanders and avoids confrontation if able.

Nah, doesn't matter though does it? Doesn't affect your enjoyment. I doubt I'm the highest level person, but I don't even think about it. I just think about what I'm personally doing, and how much fun I'm having. If you're 2 hours in to it, and level 2, and having FUN... then keep it up! =)

I am a level 7 i believe. completed all the companion quests. and doing side jobs for folks in town. i have discovered all the main cities. my one and only complaint. it doesn't seem like they have store like they did in oblivion. like a mage store. clothing store. place you can sell jewls. i just see the blacksmith.

There is plenty of merchants in Skyrim, Akatosh. Their marketing just isn't as good as Oblivion. =) Walk around a village, then use your local map to see doors to houses, and get close enough to doors to read their discriptions. I know in Whiterun there is a circular area that has a general vendor and an alchemist (if memory serves) as well as a couple taverns and a couple armorers (which happen to be next to your house, if you so chose to purchase a house in Whiterun.)

It just seems like everyone is just trying to level as fast as they can.

I don't play to level up, I'm just playing the game and the opportunity arises. I think at one stage, I decided to level up and I'd gone up 4 levels because i hadn't been to the level up screen in ages. I have been playing this game excessively the past two days though.

I don't think it's excessive until you haven't slept. ;) I don't think my 17 out of 25 hours was excessive... or the following 22 out of 30 hours... then work screwed up my mojo. >:/

haha, commitment to the cause! You beat me hands down. It is bloody hard to get off once you've started playing.

Yeah, due to other responsibilities, and a girlfriend who doesn't understand my need to play the game 8 hours straight, I'm going to attempt to postpone playing till this evening. It's 11 am now. So i just come to the Skyrim forum instead lol.

level 12 now. dunmer that uses light/heavy, archery, and dual wield axes. also semi-stealthy and doing a lot of smithing and alchemy. 0 magic

honestly the first 10 levels happened yesterday and mostly from combat on master difficulty because every fight takes so damn long you level up quite a bit early on. today i only got 2 levels so it's already tapering off now that combat skills are getting high and raising slower. only thing i'm really miffed about is removal athletics/acrobatics because that's how i justified never fast traveling. i dont fast travel at all. period

i did notice they have carriages that are like silt striders so im gonna start hitting those up more often. i finally left whiterun area to go to riften for a companions quest and basically i'm getting owned. atronachs walking around in the woods and plops? F that. going back to whiterun for now

this game is raw. my guy feels dirty. the world feels dirty. i love that there's a stat for bunny hunting.....
