Weapon selection

I need you guys to help me select a weapon, since I'm not really satisfied with my selection right now.

I've been using a 2 handed sword so far, and the damage is good but it's sort of clumsy and I tend to die very fast. I tried dual wielding and it seems kinda pointless, the damage is still around the same of a 1 handed weapon only with a different power attack, so it seems it would be better to just got for 2H for the damage to 1H+shield for defense.
Archery also seems kinda useless up close, only got to use it against dragons so far.
Magic doesn't really interest me right now, but if you think it's a big improvement over the others some detail would be appreciated.

I just go with a one-handed weapon (as powerful as I can get) and a shield. I love blocking their attacks for an easy advantage.

Archery is fine up close, just have to not get flustered by getting punched in the face. Or kill the damn thing before it punches you in the face. =) With my sneak and archery skills, not many things live long enough to touch me, and if they do, poison and/or a couple more shots generally put them down. That being said, I usually have a spare 2 handed weapon on me just in case. Right now it is a Dwemer Great Axe (I think? Definitely Dwemer, might be a battlehammer... or something along those lines) or grab something with a little magical damage on it as well, and hit 'em with physical and magical at the same time. I know that is the one thing that has taken me down a couple times... :O

The main thing is, find what feels the best for you, and level it. and level level level it. It all sucks when not leveled. Use those perks to pick one to focus on. Honestly, everything in the game is probably viable, and just depends on how you skill your character. Regardless of what you pick, it would eventually be awesome.
