I don't understand how yall are doing this, every time i have tried using fury or frenzy on someone in a town all that happens is guards swarm me. And i have tried this hundreds of times to get rid of that battle born asshole in whiterun without a bounty, all i get are dozens of arrows in my ass! starting to think my game is glitched.

Yea I hate that battleborn asshole too, I usually slaughter him when I enter beast form for the first time in whiterun.

I usually visit him in his sleep, preferably as a vampire i'll break into the house, feed on him a few times then gut him with the most powerful weapon i have on hand. I've gotten away several times with no bounty using this method.

lol you guys are very evil

I despise anyone on this game who is associated with the imperial legion, and kill them on site if they don't have unlimited health. You should see what i do to groups of imperials brazen enough to take a stroll down the streets, u would not like me. lol

Finally!!! Someone I can relate to!!! And don't you dare try and lead a stormcloak off in binds. Or stay in a fort the I cleared of bandits only too find you assholes taking over. And don't try and lead people to a wedding in solitude either. Damn Imperials.

God, it sucks so bad. Work and work to perk it up so as to unlock all these awesome possibilities and all it really amounts to is:

*poof* Aggressive guy stands still

or

*poof* Aggressive guy turns on his friends if he has any (maybe)

or

*poof* Person I want to kill runs away

or

*poof* Nothing

Boring, boring... BORING... and I've tried really hard to like it.

I'm going back to Destruction... it may not scale like Illusion (allegedly) but at least I get to start fires and blow stuff up.

I've never really tried Illusion because it seems complicated, but this post makes me not want to try at all, haha. Definitely seems like a lot of effort that yields little reward, unless you pair it correctly with other offensive attacks. The more simple the better for me.

AS88 won't be pleased with this development...

It's impossible for AS88 to be displeased with me. :p If he can give me a simple illusion build that he'll know I can have fun with, I'll give it a go. Otherwise.... pass.

How do you backstab a Dragon?
My main gripe with illusion magic is simply that it does not work half the time, i can't count how many times its gotten me killed all cuz i shot a bolt of frenzy at a group of high level bandits from a mile away and instead of attacking each other they all decided to hike up the mountain to where i was and slaughter me! Its just not reliable, i dunno if bethesda designed it this way on purpose or if its a bug but either way it sucks.
If you're going to use Frenzy effectively you have to use stealth, e.g. the Quiet Casting perk, and the Muffle and Invisibility spells. The reason why they're attacking you is because even though a Frenzy spell does no damage it's still flagged as an assault by the game and the NPC AI so it's like going up to a guy and causing him to be generally pissed off while punching him in the face. You have to be undetectable by your target to ensure that they won't aggro on you.
As I'm doing a spell sword now, I'd like to know which tree has the silent cast perk? That I would like. They obviously hear me when I cast a spell. I know where muffle and invisibility are - is it on the same tree?

Right side of Illusion tree about 4 up I believe

How do you backstab a Dragon?
I have a question. While I realize that illusion can be very helpful in avoiding conflict, why would you want to? Isn't it rather boring to go through a game without any sort of combat going on? What is the point in being a hero (or villain for that matter) if you never have to fight?

Just my thought. I don't know if I could handle being some peaceful treehugger in a world full of things trying to kill me. I would always be so, so sad...

Of course, now that I think about it, it certainly would be a challenge, given my personality to actually attempt such a playthrough. Of course it would make being Dragonborn extremely difficult!

It has it's moments of hilarity, for instance I was in Fort Frostmoth last night and this thread was on my mind so I switched over to Illusion and started hard casting it since my mana... sorry Magicka pool is pretty deep. I hit one of the necromancers sitting in that library looking area with Frenzy and watched him beat up his pal pretty bad. I chuckled and started shield bashing the winner.

Thats perhaps one of the biggest mysteries to me on this game, some people actually enjoy playing with no combat, baffles the hell out of me but they do, even if illusion magic did work like it advertizes it would still get old very quickly cuz there's no combat involved, but again like i say, there are some who literally enjoy playing with no fighting, i ask myself "why even play then?" strange indeed. :/

Which is exactly why Illusion will never be tempting to me. The more things trying to kill me at the same time the better. I thrive in bloody chaos.

A simple Illusion build? Well how about any build you've ever used, which also uses Fury spells to soften up their enemies, or a sneak build which cast Muffle before scope out who you wanted to attack first?

And as Faralda says at the College of Winterhold

"The school of illusion can be quite influential. Kings have risen to power because of it, and empires have been razed with it"

Illusion is an essential part of a lot of my characters, some of which are among my favourites.

Also, there's a few excellent builds on theskyrimblog that might give you some ideas. Here's just a few that came to mind from my bookmarks.

Now that I agree with! If it wasn't for AS88 I never would have tried to build a mage of some sort.
