I'm so excited! Can't wait to see what happens next! And I just want to let you know that you inspired me to start writing my own journal! I've already got the backstory set up and once I save up the money to build my PC and get Skyrim on it I'm gonna start playing and possibly posting on here!

Awesome! You'll be surprised by how much it adds to the gameplay. You really connect a lot more with the character you're playing. New entry incoming! d;-)

I lost my nerve. I lost my nerve and now I'm on a silt strider headed back to Khuul. Curse all of them!

I was right there. I drew my mace. And the fetcher turned around and saw me. My heart jumped into my throat. I acted like I was checking my weapon, and then put it away, but from that point on he was watching my every move. And the look of him. Surely he could best me in a fair fight, but with the other guard nearby and ready to back him up .... suicide. It had to be. I just know it.

I'm so frustrated. I want to go back and try again, but I'm sure it's impossible. I hate Khuul but I'm not ready to die trying to rescue some councilor's son. I already saved HIS life. He should have sponsored me and sent me over there with reinforcements. What was he thinking? Sending me by myself. Assuming I managed to kill the captain and the other guard, how many other guards are in the manor? More than a dozen easily. I'm supposed to kill them all? By myself? Insanity.

Neminda had nothing to say to me. So that was that. My opportunity appears lost. House leadership is so fickle. Such short memories. I hate them all right now.

A fairly boring day got interesting a bit ago. While patrolling outside the village I spotted a campfire near the mountains. I headed over to check it out and saw a trio of men standing around, and they looked suspicious. I slowed my pace and approached more slowly, my hand on the hilt of my mace.

Sure enough, one of the men drew his blade and charged me. Another drew his blade as well, while the third pulled out a bow. My heart was racing, but oddly enough I was actually excited to be doing something.

My mace struck home and their blades retaliated. The fight went on for some time before the first dunmer fell. These fellows were obviously bandits or highwaymen, and while they had numbers on me I had better armor and a better weapon by far, not to mention better skill with both. Soon enough the second bladesman fell, and the archer began to retreat.

The sting of his arrows was sobering. Quickly I realized he was more formidable than either of his accomplices. I closed the distance and landed a strike, only to have him slip away and loose more arrows at me. Every time I got close I would manage to get a hit on him, only to have him evade my next one. He was slowly gaining the advantage on me, and I was beginning to run out of breath. My armor, while better than his by far, was slowing me down considerably.

I began to approach him more carefully, sidestepping randomly to avoid at least some of his arrows. My plan worked, and with a final swing my mace caved in the side of his face and the fight was over.

Tomorrow I'll head to Ald Velothi to file a report with the guard captain. With any luck they will have had a reward on their head. Even better. Perhaps they could be my reason for returning to Ald'ruhn. With any luck.

Back in Khuul. My trip to Ald Velothi was not fruitful. No reward. No orders to return to Ald'ruhn. I'm truly stuck in this wretched fishing village for life. Back to the grind in the morning I guess.

Spent the day patrolling the hills around Khuul. Edril had village watch. Nothing to report really, other than the usual lot of diseased scribs and rats. Tomorrow I have village watch. Should be thrilling.

Nothing but rain and thunder today. A truly miserable day in this miserable cesspool. At least I have village duty. I can stay out of the rain for the most part. Edril is probably hating that he switched me duties today. His problem .. not mine.

A long day of rain and gloom. Glad it's over. Took care of a dreugh down by the docks. Didn't take too much effort. Too bad the wretched thing was too beat up to recover any wax from. The stuff is valuable and I could use some extra coin.

Off to bed early. Have to be up early for patrol duty. Hopefully the rain will have stopped.

Patrolled the region south of Khuul today. Killed the usual assortment of scribs and nix hounds and kwama foragers. Nothing too exciting until the afternoon when I came across a pair of Ashlanders by a yurt. They drew their weapons as I approached them.

I smashed them both down, as well as the third that was hiding inside the yurt. Scum.

In the morning I'm off to Ald Velothi to file another report. Doubtful that this lot had any sort of reward on them.

Looking forward to my day off on Turdas. I think I'll head down to Gnisis and see what's new. Maybe sell off a few items I stashed from the other bandits I put down.

Looks like I'm spending the night in Ald Velothi. The journey took all day this time. So many beasts along the road. It's a never-ending task.

No reward for the ashlander thugs I killed. Not even a thank you. But Lauravenya, a mage stationed at the outpost, told me about a woman from the village who had been taken by another band of rogue ashlanders.

I was going to go look for her in the morning, but the outpost commander has other plans for me. He wants me to take care of a large slaughterfish that has been harassing the local fisherman. I'm certain he gave me the task as a joke. They all think it's so funny that I went off to Ald'ruhn and wound up back in Khuul. I know they're joking about it behind my back. And now this slaughterfish thing .... they think they are so funny.

Keep laughing ....

Just spent the whole morning wading hip deep in the sea and bludgeoning slaughterfish. I finally came across the one the locals call Old Blue Fin. He wasn't much of a fighter. Big .. sure. But slow too. One of the local guards jumped in when he saw me fighting the fish and helped me finish him off. Kind of surprised me. I figured this fish thing was all a big joke.

Theldyn, the outpost commander, actually presented me with a reward for taking care of this silly fish. Ten samples of dreugh wax from the locals. Not a bad thank you. I'll be selling them in Gnisis tomorrow for sure.

Before I head back to Khuul today, I'm going to look for this missing pilgrim. They say the ashlanders that took her are close by.

Not going to be heading back to Khuul just yet after all. I located the ashlanders and freed the woman they had taken. She was being held inside a yurt near Ald Velothi. In a location nearly visible from the watch tower.

The ashlanders on guard out front sent me inside to speak with their leader, who refused to give up the woman. I threatened but he stood firm. I had no choice but to use force. Ashlanders need to respect authority as much as anyone else in Morrowind.

After killing him I stepped outside the yurt and took on the guards, both of whom didn't last very long either. The magical icy enchantment on this mace of mine does wonders, especially against dunmer.

I escorted the woman back to safety, then checked in with Theldyn to see if perhaps he would reward me for this task as well. He hadn't even heard of the missing woman as it turns out, so there was no reward. Just a pat on the back.

He does, however, have a new task for me. A diseased shalk has shut down a mine and he wants me to handle it. Unfortunately this means giving up my day off. Edril will not be happy that I didn't make it back today either. I'm sure he's losing his mind patrolling the village, and wondering where I'm at. I should probably check in with him first, and then head out to the mine the next day. It's not like the shalk is going anywhere.

Edril was unhappy, just as I expected. Nothing worse than having to patrol the village in the rain all day. Staring at rocks would be more interesting. But he has no choice. Theldyn has a bug he wants me to take care of and that's all there is to it. Edril will have to find a way to endure the day.

Myself .. I spent the rest of the day trekking back to Ald Velothi. It's better than village duty but not by much. Walking all day in the rain and dealing with scribs and rats takes a toll. Besides, I get jitters from having to pass by the old daedric ruins. You can barely make them out through the rain, but they're there. And they don't bode well for the one that wanders too closely.

As it was, I was attacked by a blighted nix hound just outside the outpost. He put up a considerable fight and infected me with the blight. Luckily for me the there is a shrine at the outpost and I was able to make an offering and cure myself. Nothing much worse than suffering from the blight.

Now for a night of rest before I head out in the morning to find and finish this troublesome bug.

I've been walking all day, fighting off nix hounds left and right. The road to Gnisis could use some additional patrols it seems. I'm used to just taking the strider. Much less hassle.

Now I'm going to help a poor young lady find her ring. It seems she's dropped it in a murky pool and she can't go in after it because she's a dancer with a job in Gnisis. Doesn't want to smell like the muck. So I guess that means I get to smell like it.

Such a pain this job is. Killing rats and fish and helping girls find rings they foolishly dropped into murky pools of water. And when I'm done and smell like filth I get to go look for a diseased insect. What a life.

Ah well. I better quit writing and get all of this armor off. The girl is giving me strange looks. What? You've never seen a guard that could write? Brainless woman. I'll find your ring and smell like foulness and be happy about it won't I?

Gnisis ... Morning

I'm not entirely sure what this book's purpose is. I'm quite curious as to why that imbecile guard had it in his possession. It appears he was actually writing in it as well. How amusing. Come to think of it, I'm not exactly certain why I've started writing in it. I just feel ... compelled?

Yesterday's ruse went quite badly. When I saw the guard approaching I whispered to Synette to let him pass. A guard was no more worth our time than our trouble. And this guard turned out to be plenty of trouble.

Synette always was a bit too greedy for my taste. If she hadn't been so good at her routine, and hadn't paid me so nicely, I would have given her leave long ago. But yesterday her greed caught up to her.

I won't lie. It was predictably comical to watch the guard stripping off his armor for Synette's benefit. Amazing what stupid men will do with a pretty girl in their ear. This was undoubtedly the most brilliant part of Synette's scheme. Asking some passerby to go into some murky water to retrieve her missing ring always led to them removing their armor, thus making them much easier to dispose of. Some of them would even leave their weapons behind.

But this guard was at least smart enough to keep his mace on his hip. I caught the sheen on it as he entered the water, and realized it had some magical properties to it. All the more reason to have let him pass. But Synette couldn't do it. And now she's dead.

The guard walked right past me, oblivious to my presence. Right into the muck and stinking water. Synette let him search for the ring for some time. She got some perverse pleasure out of watching them suffer this way before we ended their lives. I never understood it. If you have a target to kill, you take them at their weakest moment. You don't prolong the engagement and allow fate to sway things.

Surprisingly the guard found the ring, but kept losing it in the dark water. I quietly urged Synette to make her move but she was enjoying it all too much. The guard was getting quite frustrated and she loved it. He was covered stink and still trying to retrieve this somewhat worthless ring. And eventually he managed to do it. And as he rose from the water with it in hand, wearing nothing but soaking wet commoner's clothes, Synette delivered her quaint little line.

"No good deed goes unpunished."

I'll admit, the look of confusion on their faces was always priceless. And then that moment would follow, where they realize they have been duped. This guard in particular seemed to figure it out fairly quickly. I'm pretty certain he spotted his armor laying in a pile behind us and knew he was caught in a trap.

But despite his lack of protection, he was a tough one to take down. Synette closed in on him with her poisoned dagger, even though I always had told her to stay back and let me soften the mark with arrows first. This time her confidence got the better of her. The guard was furious, and was swinging away with his mace like a windmill in a storm. Before Synette even realized she was in trouble she was already dead and laying facedown in the water.

Luckily I had stayed back, and as the guard pursued me I filled his exposed flesh with arrow after arrow. He managed to get a few strikes on me and I was impressed with his power. Luckily I was still wearing my armor .. and luckily his mace had run out of it's magical charm.

Soon enough he was face down just like the one who set him up.

Now comes the tricky part. I need to leave this region for some time to make sure no one connects me to the guard's disappearance. I'm fairly sure there were no witnesses, but we were on a fairly travelled road. I can't be certain.

So this morning I wait aboard a ship in Gnisis to sail me south. It's time to seek out a new employer.
