Just then, several guards burst in, swords drawn.

"Well its about time you showed up!" Drokin called. "I just assisted in the slaying of a mighty beast!"

Ka'Rzique cackled. "Swords and ice, and war cries, and the monster dies."

"Quiet! All of You!" The guard at the front ordered. "Hand over your weapons immediately. By order of the Jarl, you are all detained here while we figure out what happened. There will be guards at all entrances until Farengar arrives. And No-one, NO-ONE is to let that Khajiit or that Orc to leave. I assure you that for whomever is responsible, there will be Oblivion to pay."

Rarga looked at the guards unable to believe the events of this day.
"And the madness continues.." he whispered under his breath.
Even though he practically hated the Khajiit race he had no intentions of harming this cackling cat.
He even decided to sit beside the cat, wondering why he didn't want to rip his ears off and cut his tail off.

Abraxas felt like crying. He'd had a long day and despite killing a massive tentacled beast, the Jarl wanted to arrest them. He trudged over into their hands, allowing them to disarm him.

The Khajiit huffed, "Welcome to my life, library stole Zeek's mind, left madness in my wake. Ah my life it'll soon take."

Drokin reluctantly handed over his sword to the guard and sat beside the Khajiit. "You and I have a score to settle pal."

"Still sore about the book? All it takes is a look." The Khajiit suggested playfully.

"YOU THERE!" Called one of the guards. "Quiet."

Ka'Rzique stood up and stared at the guard with a curious feline expression. "Would you like to see Zeek's book, care for a wee little look?" Ka'Rzique's fingers grasped the bone weapon at his side.

"Look cat. You're in real trou-" The guard's words were cut off when the Khajiit slashed at air with the bone shard, and suddenly the book was in Ka'Rzique's hands, opened toward three of the guards. All of their faces were alight with colors, mesmerized. Drokin reacted quickly. He attacked, slamming the book shut and tackling Ka'Rzique onto the table. The three guards that had seen the lit-up pages collapsed into unconsciousness.

"Not again!" Drokin yelled as he attempted to wrestle the book from the Khjiits grip. Ka'Rzique looked utterly surprised.

Abraxas watched as the crazy events unfolded before him and decided it was best to break up the Khajiit and the guard so he could make sense of everything. Grabbing the guard, he tugged him off of the Khajiit, yelling "Hey! Stop! Let's make some sense of all this."

Rarga watched as they fought, and suddenly he began laughing.
He laughed hysterically, pointing at the guards on the floor whilst choking on a laugh as he said, "WHAT FOOLS!"
Rarga got up and retrieved his weapon.
Then walked over to the corner, and sat down not paying attention to anyone around him.

"Can't let him escape!" Drokin blathered as the guards rushed forward to detain Ka'Rzique, and restor order. One of them restrained Raurshka. It was the guards that took the bone-weapon and the book from Ka'Rzique, but as soon as the book left Ka'Rzique's paws, he started to emit a low growl. The two guards shackled Ka'Rzique behind his back while four others attempted to resuscitate their fallen comrades.

One of the guards gave Abraxas and Drokin an approving nod.

"Well looks like he have some evidence at least." Said the guard who'd taken the book.

Abraxas smiled at the turn of events. The guards all seemed favorable and he asked politely, "Yes I helped detain this dangerous Khajiit and slay the beast that was summoned. So what does the Jarl say about a reward eh? I think I've worked hard enough for one."

"One thing at a time, citizen." the guard huffed.

Just then, Farengar appeared in the door, accompanied by the Captain of the Guard.

"Raurshka? Don't tell me your the orc that escaped." he sighed, "This is Morthal all over again. Okay so who wants to tell me what happened here?" he asked, looking around the room at our faces.

Ka'Rzique lifted his head still growling. "I want my book back, and I will answer in fact."

Drokin was just about to point something out when it occurred to him that he didn't have a clue. "Don't let him open the book." He said finally.

Rarga stood then walked to the middle of the room, "A beast came out of a crack in the middle of the floor," Rarga looked at Farengar, "We all fought it and i have no bloody idea how it got there, you may want to ask the cat or that man there 'Rarga pointed towards the imperial assassian'.

Abraxas chuckled and raised his hands guiltily. "I was just reading some nonsense words on a page stuck to my boot. At least I helped to fix the problem right? Hehehe.... So is the Jarl in a good mood right now?"

"Explain Zeek will, but book lost still." Ka'Rzique hissed.

"Enough with this non-sense!" said the Captain. "What's this about books and pages?"

Farengar shifted as a guardsman handed him the book. Farengar examined it thoughtfully. "I've never sensed an aura like this before." He eyed the shackled khajiit. Then he walked forward and placed the book at Ka'Rzique's feet.
Even though he couldn't grasp it, Ka'Rzique's anger turned to bliss with the book's proximity.
"Where did you get this artifact?" Farengar asked.

Ka'Rzique looked up with a strange expression. "It stole Zeek's mind, It stole my time. In the library of terrible things, of maddening things where madness sings, and power brings."

"He's loony!" The guardsman nearest protested. Farengar looked very patient however.

"But he's somewhat coherent," He said. "Which is rather fortunate considering that this person has been exposed to the most raw magical influence I've ever seen. Raw, untamed, chaos. The kind of stuff that gives magic a very bad reputation. Go on Zeek, tell us how you came to be here."

Ka'Rzique looked mournfully at Farengar. "I came here to die, numbered hours have I. For wizards come this night, To cure me of my plight, in a plan that will bring much blight, on all land under the light. One other has some things, books that do great things. Dressed as a great fool, Redguard jester was a tool. Now they will take him too. Enthralled wizards numbering two. Jester had a book I'd say, a page undone this place, and left this place this way."
Ka'Rziques soliloquy came to and end. Leaving everybody but Farengar utterly puzzled. But just as Farengar was about the speak, the Khajiit started singing.

"Go inside, you will find, the place where forbidden lore lies, and many a ill-minded book thief dies.
A maze of knowledge is inside, but also a jester's lies, insane laughter from he who dies.
But its a place you cannot find, for it is a place of lies, where many a traitor hides.
A maze, a maze of madness to the door, a door in the mind, where the mind must die."

Ka'Rziques mournful dirge left the Tavern in stunned silence. Farengar stood back a ways, deep in thought.

Abraxas was quite certain that the Khajiit was mad. However, his line about a Redguard gave him pause. "You know I met a Redguard here. He ran out of the bar laughing like a fool. Could it be that the page was from him?"

Rarga suddenly remembered earlier events of the day, 'The Redguard jester, i saw him stumble and bleed! Oh! and he was laughing so hysterically', he thought, 'I didn't see a book though'.
Rarga thought about telling Farengar and the others but he decided to keep quiet and watch.

Farengar spoke, "Captain, think you can round up a jester?"

"I'm short of men! Someone knocked out the guards at the gate, three men are unconscious here!" The Captain was fuming. "Someone needs to make sure these people don't go anywhere."

"Leave them alone with me." Farengar said. "I'll keep them here. Tend to your fallen ones."

    "I must pro-"

"Go! My magic is sufficient for this. And keep an eye out for suspicious people."

Reluctantly, the Captain ordered the guards to carry out the unconscious comrades. Ka'Rzique was left shackled, kneeling on the floor next to the book. On the way out, a guard kicked it out of the khajiit's reach. It landed over by the assassin's feet. Ka'Rzique growled eyes upon the book as though it were pray that was making an escape.

Then with one dubious look at Farengar, the captain reluctantly departed to lead the search.

Farengar raised his hands and called out an incantation, the exits shimmered as though coated with light. "If anyone wants to leave he must go through me. Just a precaution you see. Now let's talk. I think some of you deserve proper introductions."

Drokin couldn't hide his surprise. Farengar was acting almost casual in the face of great danger. Ka'Rzique was worming his way over to where this precious book lay, not paying any attention. Drokin spoke up first.

"My name is Drokin. I'm from Roricstead."
