in real world I wish to build a house in top of a gloomy mountain in somewhere cold where no one lives.
but there should be a safe ,quick road to come to the nearest town.

in skyrim somewhere close to the whiterun.

Winterhold because the stupid college won't let me move my family into the Arch-Mage's quarters and the stupid Jarl won't let me buy or build a house there. I guess in Skyrim magic isn't a family-friendly career.

A house on Akavir, snake men that eat people? Pff I'm Australian, show them who is boss.

A floating island above whiterun, so I could drop steaming dovahturds onto Belethor and Nazeem from a mile up.

I would live in a Mushroom (like the ones in Morrowind) for my Mages. These... should be mods if there not.

YES. I want my own Tel Mithryn. My Khajiit alchemist would be delighted :D Only it needs to be a considerable distance from Neloth's house, I don't want to be neighbors with that bastard.

My Imperial mage is right at home in the Pale, but Heljarchen Hall isn't quite her style. She needs atmosphere, something along the lines of Castle Volkihar to perform her conjuration experiments and practice her...Dibellan arts.

Personally I would build a house in the Soul Cairn. It's just that cool. Purple sky, beautiful scenery, undead creatures and disembodied souls, what's not to love? (And so ends my career as a Tamriel real estate agent). I'd much prefer to look up into the sky and see a maddening black vortex instead of the sun. The sun sucks

What's wrong wit Neloth? He's a great ally...

And be careful if you decide to live in the Soul Cairn... I hear there is a nasty, purple dragon living there.

He is a great ally, and he's amusing to listen to. But he's still a bit of a bastard :p I think he'd be a terrible next-door neighbor.

You got a point there. He'd be constantly sending you on stupid errands and trying to borrow your crap all the time. Good call...

Yeah, a house like Neloth's would be nice, I just hope its away from all hose Ash Spawn. Imagine a house like that in the Forgotten Vale.....

I already have a house exactly where I want, I modded up a cottage just outside of whiterun, between Pelagia Farm and the Western Watchtower.

It is a shame because Sahdira would love to live in Riften but she hates its thieves and the accursed Maeven Black-Briar. So, if she could choose, she would build a home on the water near some of the farms in the Rift or just outside of Ivarstead.

For my non-Dovahkiin peasant, Avar, I'd have him own a Pinewatch-style cottage, though maybe slightly bigger, (no secret passage though) in Rorrikstead. As the guards say, it's a nice enough little hamlet. The wide open spaces are pretty, and there's plenty of room for growing his produce and hunting. He can go up into the hills of the Reach, plains of Whiterun, etc.

My Viking, Bjørn, would like to stay in Windstad Manor, but the area would have the following:

A food storage building at the fish hatchery to get fish and also store foodstuffs.
At least one dock for at least one Viking vessel on the coast. Cottages for my fellow Viking brethren scattered nearby.
A communal armory separate from the one in the manor where the men can forge and improve weapons and armor, and store some.
A training and exhibition ground where men can train with fighting, and also compete in less-than-lethal fighting games (like King of the Mountain where two men put a foot on a shield on the ground and have to knock the other off).
A treasury room in my manor where loot is stored under heavy security.
A bathing area by the water where residents can wash themselves (Vikings were supposed to actually be pretty clean)

The town would be called...Bjørnstadt. I like that name.

But if I had to really have a dream house (I know this makes NO sense, but bear with me)... I would love a house in Sovngarde! I know that you can't technically LIVE in Sovngarde, that's why it's my non-realistic dream house. I would love to have a house that looks just like Shor's hall, but a smaller version.. complete with all the beautiful gold table settings, the wine barrels, the delicious feast... and then I could walk outside and see the beautiful sky with the stars galore, and the beautiful valley. Of course, I wouldn't be living there while Alduin was there. I'd kick that jerk outta my neighborhood! :p

I'd have the second house. I've always been a simple man...er...Mer.
