Lol, I live in Michigan and people say we talk like that.

I think they sound Scandinavian or sound like they are from Iceland or something.
My ex is from Sweden/Norway and I used to call him a Nord all the time.

I'm from NY but my sister married a Minnesotan and I dated a girl from the UP in college. I know the upper Midwest accent very well. That and the big bowl of "Minnesota Salad" on the table at holiday meals.

I loved Farkas' voice so much my characrer married him, now everytime she walks into the house he says, "hello love" and " good to see you love" :p

This is precisely why I - I mean, my character... married Farkas, too!! His voice is vaguely reminiscent of Wolverine's voice from an older X-Men I played on PC! It makes me think of Logan everytime I hear it!

I might as well not try to deny it anymore, I'm in complete adoration of Farkas as well. He was the first character I really felt I was able to connect with in the game, and the fact that he completely fed my obsession with language, accent, and voice didn't hurt either.

Heh, I like the female Scandinavian accented voice myself. I find it very attractive!

When you say British accent, what do you mean exactly? As far as I've seen, most male Nords have a German/Scandinavian sort of accent, while the females mostly have an American accent, though a bit different; how they pronounce r's and o's in particular.

That's not say to all Nord women in the game sound like that, but a fair few do, like Lydia.

I think an example of the British accent (I am not sure if it's British) would be the guard that tries shaking you down at the first gate of Riften? I forget, I think he had the Austrian accent...

Yes, but what type of British? Cockney, Scottish, Scouse, etc? But I don't really see British accents in Nords, but in other races like Dunmer, Altmer, Imperials, etc.

Oh, I apologize. I'm going to guess... either the Scouse or the cockney?

Edit:Hmm....

Skip to 4:30, listen to that guard.

No need for an apology. But I don't know exactly what it is, to be honest.

Huh. Perhaps I had my British and Scandinavian accents mixed up..

Well, I'm no expert on this, so could very well be right, but that's just what I think.

I'm Danish, and have lived in both Sweden and Norway.
Most Scandinavians speak very fluent English, since we learn it very early in school and as most country's in the world is (over)exposed to US produced television.

Still, most over 40 years old have a pretty strong accent when speaking English, but it sounds nothing like the accents in Skyrim. Try and put a potato in your mouth and speak english, that's pretty close to most Danish accents.. :-)

That doesn't bother me at all in Skyrim though, they are just inspired by our folklore, history and ancient architecture, but the Arnold Swarzenegger accent does bother me a bit, that one seems completely out of place, mostly, I think, is 'cause his voice also sounds exactly like Arnold's....
