Whatever the default difficulty is, and it's working out for me so far. I've been thinking about increasing the difficulty just to see what it's like, though.

I just switched from adept to expert and it feels a lot more rewarding to take down multiple enemies! (J'zargo in dragon plate and the spectral assassin are a big help though) And it gets my heart beating a little faster when the battle music plays.

Do it its much more rewarding and if it gets too tricky you can lower it at any time even in a fight!

Expert is still not very difficult. Hopefully master will be a bit more challenging, it helps that I can't just jump from Dragonskin armor to making Daedric weapons from the light-armor side but idk if this character can be defeated.

I used to play on Novice (helped me feel good about myself when I punched a dragon to death!
I did this on Master difficulty setting this past weekend. :p

I encountered a plain old Dragon which almost never happens when you are over level 50 so I saved the game before I engaged it. Now I can load it whenever I want to relive that moment. :)

So playing on higher difficulty levels doesn't improve any of the loot or drops, just increases the hit points, damage and quantity of opponents?

I'm not sure but my loot seemed to get better when I put the difficulty up. It could just be a coincidence though...

The only thing difficulty settings do are change the amount of damage you do and the amount of damage mobs do. Novice setting doubles your damage and halves mob damage while Master setting halves your damage and doubles mob damage.

Loot gets better based on your level.

Oh, the joy of coming across a normal dragon at high levels. Level 39, there I am, in a field. A dragon is furiously debating with a goat. I sneak up behind, draw my bow, and BAM! One shot. On Master. Epiccc.

Oh, and I normally play on master. However, my follower has yet to been equipped with better weapons(Farkas), and Barbas gets me killed half the f-ing time, and I've yet to unlock Dah in Fus-Ro-Dah b/c I have a lack of want to go retrieve the damn horn of whoever. Anyway, some fights(Mostly casters, and for some freaking reason, Falmers with their plops bows and arrows can like one shot me. Need more magic resist gear.), can be extremely difficult. I can't even get close to them as a werewolf so I just ragdoll them around the room and they don't even hit me(god is that entertaining) before I'm dead. After dying enough, I just crank it to novice and destroy the swiftly to get over my anger. I need to carry more potions...

I bumped the difficulty up to Master.

I came across an elder dragon and ran around like a chicken trying to get some pot shots in with my bow and dragonrend shout it, but whenever I got close to try to give it some hacks with my 2H sword it just flung me in the air to my death, the only way I ended up surviving this battle (after several reloads) was when the dragon got distracted by something random in the distance and flew away. Of course, shortly after I realized I wasn't wearing my amulet with 70% fire resistance so that could have explained some of the reason for the difficulty.

I also found the forsworn briarheart guys to be pretty brutal, but in general increasing the difficulty level has made the combat way more entertaining to me (I'm level 54) since I have to finally pay attention to the various abilities my guy has instead of just chopping everything in half instantly.

Novice, Apprentice when it feels really easy. Because getting trashed by a Troll is humiliating. I guess I'll put it up once I get a bit better.

I play on master. Honestly it's not that hard because you level up much faster because enemies take more hits. I'm really high level and I find on adept I can just own everything, which is no fun.

I've actually found myself changing the difficulty back and forth a lot more in my second playthrough. I'll pop it up high just to see if I can do it. And I have some success. But after dying over and over and trying all the tricks I can, I'm not shy at all about lowering the difficulty to get through the combat so I can move along. I enjoy the combat but I never want to get to the point of banging my head against a wall. This second character is only level 13 at the moment but it's been fun anyway.

Adept because I play a sneaky character in Light Armour who likes to trade blows once discovered. I couldn't take the hits on a higher level.
