Alright, I will fully explain the situation, as to get the best provided help possible. So I can continue getting back to the game.

I got Skyrim a while back and played it fine. However, I must mention I played it without updating during this time period. To elaborate: I bought the game, had my xbox 360 disconnected from the internet and play for a long period of time.
Then a few days ago, I connected it to the internet, re-added 12 months of Xbox Live, and I got an update screen for Skyrim.
Now this is where the problem occurred.
The game was 100% working fine and excellent before hand. Then right after the update, the game had a major freak-out. As soon as you start up the game, it would go to a black screen. The one before it showed the Bethesda logo and then the main screen. Yet, it wasn't stuck. It would just take 5 or 6 minutes to get to the Bethesda logo, then another 5 to get to the main screen, then it wouldn't load any of our games or saved files.
Seeing this, I did a few tests and figured out that it was the update that obviously caused this massive problem. So I cleared my cache and tried playing... but the problems were still there.
Now, you may say it's the 'disk tray' problem. However, this is not the case. My Disk tray is fine, as it worked perfect before this update and all of my other games work 100%. The update was the problem.
I even deleted the whole game off my hard drive (Which deleted all of my awesome accounts. :[ ) and tried re-running it.
Same problem.
I then tried to make a new account and the game loaded up. I thought this was excellent!
But then instead of starting off being brought to the chopping block is Helgen, as per usual, the carriage didn't move.
It just stood there and I couldn't move or do anything because 'My hands were bound'.
So I'm at a complete standstill on how to fix this.
I cannot delete > Re-install the game, as I tried that. Same bugs arise. I cleared my cache, didn't work. I even checked the disc and it's perfectly fine. Not scratched, brand new.

So, please. If there is any solution to this, I would love to hear it.
I rather not wait until who-knows-when for another update to fix this. As that could take forever, even though that seems to be my only solution for this. Hopefully.

Any ideas?

Well it could be a problem with the disc itself, the reason I say that was I've heard of the same thing happening to others. They return the disc & get a replacement & everything works fine.

Hmm, well you've gone through most of what we could recommend. The only thing you haven't tried is installing it to the HDD, unless you were playing it that way in the first place in which I could recommend playing it without it being installed. This is a weird situation. So when you did a fresh go at it, did you re-update it?

I've tried installing it to the HDD, it stops at 38%.
The disc is 100% fine. Zero scratches, brand new.
I tried re-updating it several times. [Clear Cache > Update, repeat]
I've been playing it without it being installed to the HDD originally.
I cannot return the game and get a replacement as we bought it from Ebay.
So I'm stuck in the situation I'm currently at.
I would really love to get back to playing as it's been about a week since this bug appeared.
I'm patient though.

Just because the disc is brand new and blemish or scratch free doesn't mean that it isn't the problem.
I've seen 2 brand new never used before discs not work.

Or it could well be that your machine has problems reading the disc, I know my 360 Elite does with some discs.

As Finalchrono stated in his post,

I really can't think of any other problem it can be.

If it's the disc or machine... then why did these problems occur right after updating?
It worked perfectly fine before I tried updating it.
Doesn't make much sense, really.
So I'm screwed?

Well then my advice is take the disc and machine to your local games shop or machine repairer and tell them what the problem is or contact them and see if they have a solution.

Depending on how long you have been off of updating does matter. The update that came about in November actually changed the firmware of all the dvd drives. So, you should probably try playing another recent game to see if it is having the same problem.

Ok, I went into town and had a chat to some other Gamers on this issue looking for some fresh ideas & this is what we came up with...

You said ....
The game was 100% working fine and excellent before you got the internet

You only started to have problems after you downloaded the updates.

So this is what has been suggested you do.... Go into your Storage on your Xbox Elite & manually delete the Skyrim Update, the chances are that the update has in some way become corrupted resulting in your current problem.
Then go play your game & naturally the game will Update again & hopefully it will work properly. Try that & see what happens.

This keeps happening to me, basically, I bought an xbox 360 a few months ago, it came with Skyrim, it's not a disk it's an internet download, I downloaded it, it worked fine for a while, but then I was doing a quest for the dark brotherhood, I had to go into the night mother's tomb. when the door closes, she says "sleep" then the screen went black, and it wouldn't load, I could hear the background noises for about a minute then it freezes, I cant go to my dashboard or anything. I have to shut my Xbox down, it takes me three times to do so. I eventually got past that error. But now it's happening again and I don't know how to fix it

I don't have the Elite, just the black box 360. When I saw update notices (which for some reason, I rarely see for some reason anymore), I upload my game progression of all 3-char's to an HDD, then I dl the update, then put my game progression back into the 360.

So far, the only problems are the usual bugs and glitches Skyrim came out with.

As far as the CD itself, it's very possible the disc is bad. I had to return one after 6-months (cost $20.00). It's worked pretty good so far. But I have heard of and seen brand new game CD's come out of the package, and not working right.
