I have read all the in-universe lore about all the elven races and have come to a conclusion: with few exception, the races of Mer are dicks. Pardon my language but I have to make that clear. Here is my proof:

The Aeylids: They actively worship the Daedra for power and oppressive towards early Imperials. Though not all Aeylids were evil and treated early man like that, but it took the Aedra to intervene to give man a fighting chance.

The Dwemer: Though we know very little about them, what we heard makes them, in my opinion, the worst. They act like hypocritical, militant Vulcans. They waged war with the Chimer because they worshiped the Daedra. For a race of beings that pride themselves in Logic and Reasoning, shouldn't they look past their beliefs and welcomed them. Then they changed the Falmer from a proud race into blind savages. Logic and Reason my butt.

The Bosmer: The Wood Elves actually are pretty decent, except they are cannibals. Other than that I don't have that much of a problem with them.

The Falmer: When I say Falmer, I mean the sophisticated race that are the natives of Skyrim, but the guys who look like the Master from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They actually seemed like the nicest of the Elven races. Though they did try to kill off all of the Atmorans, but in Dawnguard, the one unaltered Falmer(I forget his name) seems like a nice guy and was very helpful.

The Dunmer: They worship the most evil of the Daedric Princes, they practice slavery, and they treat the other races as lesser species.

The Orcs: I have no problems with Orcs.

The Altmer: I hate them. They actively want to destroy Nirn and humans. Why, because they believe they are descendants to the Aedra. Also they are the worst race in terms of gameplay. Nords, Redguard, Orcs, and Imperials are better fighters, Bretons can be better mages in enough time is put into them, Bosmer, Argonians, and Khajiit are better thieves, and Dunmer are a good well-balanced race. Altmer are solely good at magic, but that's not saying much.

I wouldn't go so far as to say all elves are jerks, there are plenty of elves in Skyrim (ex. Brelyna Maryon and Ulundil) who are friendly enough.

You're confusing the Altmer with the Thalmor. A lot of Altmer actively oppose the Thalmor, especially the Psijic order, who help you fight against a Thalmor agent in the College questline. And many Altmer living in Skyrim have nothing to do with the Thalmor, there's even one who's wanted by them I think in Falkreath, the priest of Arkay

The Dunmer mostly worship Azura. The most evil of Daedric princes? She's actually the least evil one. And yes in Morrowind they did practise slavery, but not all Dunmer liked that. And in Skyrim (especially Windhelm) they're treated as second class citizens. And just like the Altmer they're all pretty diverse, ranging from evil daedra worshippers to a priest of Mara.

Also you're probably a bit too easy on the Snow Elves. They instigated the Night of Tears, murdering thousands of innocent Nords in Saarthal.

And all Bosmer are cannibals? I've never seen Faendal tuck into an elf steak.

There's definitely some elven factions who are evil, but it's unfair to paint the whole race of mer like that. Many of them are great people who do a lot of good.

The Bosmer are cannibals out of necessity. If they eat or cut down any of their home trees or plants they will turn into murderous... beings. They are the polar opposite of vegetarians, but it's okay for them to eat other province's plant life and use their lumber.

The Dunmer stopped practicing slavery in the late 3rd era and most no longer treat other races as lesser species.

You have completely misunderstood the Altmer and have confused them with the Thalmor. It's actually largely believed that there are multiple civil wars in Summurset Isle because of them.

The Aylieds were the only race that I would consider evil. Plus your giving Humans to much credit.

The Nords headed the extinction of the Snow Elves and have been known to have consistent border disputes with its neighboring provinces.

The Imperials have an Arena where they pit man vs. man and sometimes man vs. beast. Their combatants can be anything from willing men and mer, to prisoners.

The Redguards and Bretons both persecute the Orcs and have crushed their land of Orcinium twice. These attacks were unprovoked and are the reason the Orcs don't have a land they can call home.

Both Man, Mer, and Beast have done terrible things but none of them are just automatically evil.

Totally agree with most of the replies. It is silly to ever make assumptions that one race or section of races is evil. They are based off of humanity and are therefore much like us. Every single race and individual has the capacity to love and to hate; to kill and to save; to opress and to liberate; to be both good and evil even at the same time. Let us not be childish and look at things in biased black and white goggles. We are by our very nature paradoxes.

Except for Alyieds. I don't know what happened when Bethesda made them but over 90% of their population enslaved and tortured mankind. What's worse is that it started becoming an art to them.

Well, considering the fact that they are all pretty much extinct, there wouldn't be an alternate view point existing. Mostly because the Imperials hate them and even the Altmer had disdain toward them because they were Daedra worshippers. They probably were mostly evil, but still, they still had the capacity towards goodness and love (at least toward their own kind) but we will never get to see that side of them and it makes sense that we would never get to see that.

Actually there were a few Alyeids left that didn't want to kill but live in peace with the Imperials. Some of these few spoke out against there own race, but as we all know anyone can be bribed to talk bad about their race.

Or they could have honestly felt that way. Not all of a group of people agree with what their race is doing, but people are usually to afraid of speaking out until it becomes safe to do so. Or they could have been just trying to save their own heads or earn money. Though it was probably a mix of all these things and we will never know. Though I really find your replies to be very informative because I don't really know altogether that much about the Ayelid race. Thanks! :D

The transformation that Bosmer undergo during the Wild Hunt has nothing to do with any violation of the Green Pact.
The Dunmer: They worship the most evil of the Daedric Princes, they practice slavery, and they treat the other races as lesser species.
As noted by another they haven't practiced slavery since the Third Era. The Daedra are above concepts of good or evil. Azura, Boethia and Mephala were considered "good" Daedra by the Chimer and Dunmer.
The Altmer: I hate them. They actively want to destroy Nirn and humans. Why, because they believe they are descendants to the Aedra.
There is nothing in the lore that establishes that they want to destroy Nirn and humans. Players that think this are spending way to much time discussing lore with MK worshipers. Just because he writes it doesn't make it lore. It's outside the game and unadopted by Bethesda. They own the copyright. He doesn't. While it's an interesting concept, it's not lore and it's not canon.

yes high elves who are thalmor are jerks....

But wood elves are amazing!!!!they are not jerks.

I am a wood elf, for I would never be a high elf.

I think the biggest jerks are thalmor, I agree if you said that. but I think it's not good to say all elves are jerks.

I strongly disagree with the general concept of this. I play both a Breton and Altmer warrior, and I've found that while Altmer tend to lean more towards the arcane, it is possible to make them into fairly good warriors.

Now onto the lore-y part of your rant: Dunmer :I would hardly call Boethiah or Azura the 'most evil'. Compared to say...Mehrunes Dagon, or Molag Bal, not even scratching the surface.

Wood Elves: Others have already covered these guys, and I basically agree.

Altmer: Thalmor may be seen as the 'big bad' by most players, I've never heard that the Thalmor plan to destroy Nirn. Since the Somerset Isles are fairly near the continent, it would be rather foolish of them to do so.

Well any race can be made into anything. You can have a powerful Nord mage, a sneaky orcish rouge or a mighty Altmer warrior. And even with the NPC's the Thalmor soldiers (not the mages) can hold their own against the toughest Imperial legionnaire or strongest Stormcloak warrior.

And the idea that the Thalmor want to destroy Nirn and ascend to divine hood is an interesting one, makes a lot of sense and is popular, but is so far not canon, and there is nothing in any game to suggest this.

Ok. Maybe I went a little over-board by posting my 'facts' and again I apologize. But I never for once said that the races of Mer were evil, only that they were jerks. And I know that there are examples of individuals who nice and friendly.

Maybe jerks wasn't the best choice of word on my part and I will concede that.

Way Way Way Way back when, when all of the stuff happened with the earth bones and stuffs, azura whispered some secret and so Y'free was all like "Haha, im so gonna tell my people yo secret" and so he went to the wood elves and started a little gossip train in and when you heard the story, you were able to defy the earth bones and change your shape. So the wood elves, which were once beasts were all like "lets be elves" then went through a second level Pokemon evolution, and to thank Y'free, who was like the god of foresty valenwoodnes, they all cut themselves, and shook hands saying "We aint gonna eat no trees no more, cause thats bad" So obviously some stupid shaman thought he was better than every one, and tried to eat a carrot. So the Shaman went through a third level Pokemon evolution into a giant beast who ate EVERYTHING (I assume its a play on the fact that he wanted to eat more stuff, so now he ate everything" He ate every living thing he saw, and once his passive ability wore off, he ate himself. So then everybody knew not to eat the dang plants, but whenever valenwood went to war and started losing (like usual) They all drank/ate the figurative cool-aid/Lettuce and committed mass suicide, but effectively ate the other army.... and then their own... and then each other... and then themselves.
