What is really the best race in the long run?

When you think about it the best races in the long run are orcs, high elves, argonians, and redguards. The advantages of the other races whether it be in skill or powers can be rendered useless at higher levels and can be cast by another race with the use of spells. The power of the 4 i mentioned the are always extremely powerful. The orcs berserker rage is 2x damage given 1/2 recieved. The redguards, high elf, argonian powers regenerate stamina, magicka, health at 1000% (respectively). Those powers will never be useless. Of those four i would say that argonian or orc is the best because health is always required no matter what character you play whereas the redguard is good for ecscaping, power attacks, melee in general and high elf are only good for mages. As for skills it does not play a difference because in the long run in doesnt matter the skill advantages.

I guess sometimes it depends on the role play you're about to take, in my opinion, they are all equals in term of powers, for example, while the Orsimors can do the Berserker, the Nords can do the Battlecry (which makes your enemies flee), so I wouldn't exactly say a race is better than another except for role play proposes :)

Either High Elf, Orc or Breton (Argonian if you're into that kind of stuff ;) ). "In the long run" it absolutely does not matter though because you will be too powerful to be opposed anyways. But these race powers cannot be replicated in the game which is why they are the best. Most of the race powers because redundant mid-game.

High Elf, permanent magicka bonus and the highborn power which at any level or part in the game you will always find useful.
Orc, Beserker which, trust me, you will always want and you will always need. Plus its bad ass. Orc would be my favourite race if it wasn't for aesthetics and how they don't have any constant effects
Breton, resist magic will allow you to reach the cap way faster or just make it way easier against mages which will be your arch enemy late-game. I don't have to explain how Dragonskin is useful, its self-explanatory
Argonian, Histskin practically makes you invincible for a short time but their other powers are pretty much for novelty, nothing special. I prefer the Orc's Berserker power because I'm not looking to stay alive for longer, I'm looking to kill faster.

Redguard isn't that great, apart from aethetics, I find they look pretty cool with scars n plops. There resist poison power is just for show, can be easily caught up to with any other race and their Adrenaline Rush can be replicated with a weapon with Absorb Stamina.

I'm helping. Mostly.
On the long run? Stat based boosts won't really matter, anything concerning survivability won't matter infact, because too powerful anyways. So it will be Orcs hands down. Berserk Rage on an endgame Orc Warrior will pretty much destroy the galaxy. Then maybe Argonians, just to overkill on survivability with Histskin.

Tending toward the defensive-minded, I've always thought that Bretons were probably the best race in the game because only with them can you max out magic defense. But have I ever made one? Nope...

When in doubt, follow the fox.
I can't do hand to hand so I LOVE the Bretons. Why not ask what the worst race is? It's NORD!! Like my pic!!! Damn I've
had to work hard for everything I've gotten. Skryim gives Nords Jack SQUAT.

With Roleplay they all have their uses
Nords are tough against hypothermia and are excellent warriors till the bitter end (I'm not talking about the vanilla game)
Bosmer make efficient hunters and archer
Dark elves make good night mage
Redguards are powerful warriors
High elves are inherited with being a asshole
blah blah blah

Any race can level up the skill though

I agree with the part of the orc but the breton resistance can be replicated by enchantments, perks etc.

But doing so takes away potential in other areas. While one race would have to make up for 25 percent magicka resistance and whatever else to be a killing machine, a Breton only needs to apply themselves in one area.

Take for example a wood elf with a resist magicka enchantment on their amulet. A Breton could use that same amulet for health, heavy armor, blade, or even magicka cost reduction because already have the resist applied to them. Same logic applies to perks as well.

I suppose thats true. but as for perks you find that you have extra eventually. Im level 70 and (*spolier*) if u have one the black books from drgagonborn u can simply spend a soul to switch your perks around and i find that with that and doing legendary on skills because thats my way of leveling up because my magicka is still at 100 i get extra perks for that as well

That brings back to my original point in that in the long run there is no best race, they all become top.

How do you backstab a Dragon?
I do believe that, if you truly RP, it's is "easiest" to play one of the human races, Nord or Breton in particular as no one seems to have any particular bias against them in Skyrim - followed by Redguard or Imperial (while there are the occassional bigotries, it's not so bad). I am finding it difficult to play a dark elf as I need to go to Windhelm occassionally and always should get a hard time. I luv Khajits and would like to play an Argo, but nobody seems to like them and, without being welcome in the cities, it makes it friggin' hard to sell anything! JMT

I still think orc is the best out of all of them.

When it comes to tank, you are SOOOO right. Karag Tarth is, by far my best fighter. I use him two handed or dual wielding and he is awesome. Even from level one, he just mows through everything. He is the only character I have ever played on Master and I have to admit, he took a lot of the intimidation factor out of it.
