Its silly, but I'm sure nearly Everyone here is guilty of it. You run around for in game weeks with an item in your inventory that is completely useless. You don't keep it because its useful. You keep it because its fun and you like seeing it there when you scroll through your inventory. When you're over emcombured maybe you'll drop something 5 times this items value because, ... you like it. On my first character it was hagraven heads. Sick I know but I couldn't put them down! It was like scrolling throuh trophies because, a. it was my first character and b. I remembered every one of those bitches because they were SO HARD TO KILL!

Now my 1 item I can't part with is a simple black soul gem filled with a grand soul. The soul of Malyn Varen. I liked the guy. I couldn't see destroying someone who worked so hard to outsmart a daedra and conquer death, so I soul trapped him into a NEW home. Don't worry little buddy, I won't use 'you' to level my enchanting ;)

What is your rediculous item that you refuse to part with?

No soul gem large enough.
Butterfly in a Jar is quite nice to look at. I keep meaning to drop it off at home somewhere but I always forget.

I'm hoping to do a Zelda at some point and eat it to gain a life... :p

I travel light as well. Fill up, and then go to town. As you level higher and higher, your choice of what to take and what not to take goes up as well. I don't even pick up Greater Soul Gems anymore, even if they're full. I have too many Grands to waste space in my pack.

I also never pick up anything valued at less than 500G anymore either, unless its a rare or named item (ie Chillrend). And usually, if I can't use it, I tuck it away in the chest in my house. A trophy from my travels.

I used the console to diminish my carry-weight by 200, so I don't really have the space for extra-baggage. I do carry a moth in a jar though, simply because I don't have a house yet to deposit it in: wish you didn't have to be a racist Stormcloak to get the best house in the game.

Dual-Wielding Dragon Destroyer
My Whiterun house has a chest for every different item.

1. Ingredients
2. Potions
3. Daedric Items
4. Crafting Items
5. Important Stuff (Ebony Ingots, Daedra Hearts, Dragon Bones etc.)
6. Misc

I will always carry Soul Gems ( I use a fiery soul trap in order to level Enchanting quickly by enchanting every useless item I find then selling it for 3 times it's worth ).

on my first character it was a bee in a jar. i had been getting my ass kicked till i picked it up. it was like a rabbits foot or something. on my second character and third character it was the blades sword. i loved that thing. on my new guy its this stupid useless ring. its not even enchanted and only worth like 200 gold.i dont even wear it but i have plans to enchant it once my skill is higher. i just cant bring myself to sell it. im weird i know.

You don't have to be a stormcloak, you just have to advance the story enough on the Imperial side to conquer Windhelm, then it will be available to you.
