Will bandits attack my home?

So i got heathfire and not sure how to ask this, but i read that bandits kill your family.

Right now im getting married to ysolda, adopting the poor kid in whiterun then getting faendal as a steward.

i've had bandits outside as i left and killed them. But will they ever get inside my home and kill my steward or will my steward come outside to kill them? I don't know and wont adopt or get a stewrd until this is answered.

I've never had them come inside, but you will get skeevers from time to time in the basement.

You're lucky, I have Giants attacking regularly haha. My steward was the first casualty

When bandits attack my homesteads, my stewards tend to come outside and kill them. I've never heard of bandits killing your family (although I have heard people complain of bards and carriage drivers being murdered) but they have been known to kidnap your spouse and demand a ransom. It's never happened to me yet, but it's happened to other people.

They all stay outside the house. Incidentally, bandits aren't your only worry. You will also have giants and vampire attacks (if you have Dawnguard)

So far I have had two dragons attack (one right after the other), a giant and a group of bandits. They all stayed outside and the only casualty was my horse. They really didn't stand a chance between my housecarl Rayya, my steward Erik and my husband Farkas. And two horses, Meeko and myself, foolish bandits.

yes , you will receive a letter of ransom when you kill a bandit. And you will have to do what I just did on my previous hearthfire thread.

Bandits will kidnap your wife, possibly Vampires as well. And Giants, Dragons will pay you a visit.

Yeah the Lakeview Manorhome is really the hardest to defend , but the the Jarl of in that little town makes it so easy to aquire that property .

Bethesda has a cynical side to it . I really prefer the property in the Pale , that's the only one I get every time .

Never had them come inside while I'm there (although they did kidnap Ysolda once and I found a body in my entry way). They won't bother the kids and good luck getting your steward or housecarl to actually go outside to fight them. While I get attacked by bandits, giants, vampires and hit squads all the time at my house, it's usually me, the wife, the kids, the horses, the cow and whatever summoned beings I have that fight them. The steward and housecarls are pointless.

I've seen my Steward and Housecarls fight before. I don't know what they're doing when I'm not home, but I almost always get have Lydia as my Steward and Rayya as my Housecarl. If I'm coming up the road after a long journey, they'll tackle anything that's stomping around my property. I've never been married, so I don't know about that... It sounds like they're not very useful in that situation, but because the games doesn't want them to be.

Well, a bunch of bandits killed my horse. That's pretty much it. Good thing i have 2 mannequins in upgraded and enchanted ebony and dragonbone armor ill give to my housecarl and steward.

Will bandits attack my home?
