Xbox 360 What's the best way to kill ash spawns?

Ok so I just got dragon born went on there went to the farm and there was about two ash spawns they were ok but then I went up the road to a major hut full of ash spawns and died within like one fire ball help!

The only thing that really helps with them is resist fire potions or enchantments. I don't think they have a weakness, so offensively the best option I've found is staggering them constantly to keep their attacks at a minimum.Shield Bash, Impact casting ice or lightning, or Power Shot.

I have to disagree with you. If you use any ice spell on them, you will kill them or stagger them and if you want the best weapon to kill them, enchant it with ice damage or chaos. Regarding protection against them, cloak yourself with ice and you will extend your survival in the fight and if you are fast and use ice spells or paralyze, they will not have a chance to live. Paralyze, ice, paralyze, ice or just paralyze two of them ( they always attack in a pack of two or three ) and kill the one that is not and so on till you kill them all. Just my 2 cents ...

I had Serana with me for 90% of my Dragonborn quests, and her launching Ice Spike at countless Ash Spawn had no significant effect. Can you cite a source showing that weakness? All I've found is that they resist fire/poison and that they have a damage multiplier based on their level. No weaknesses listed anywhere that I've looked.

I meant in the sense of combat. Are you a melee fighter? An archer? A mage? A sneaky assassin? Also, what level are you at and what is the difficulty set on?

Ash spawns are tough. My Nord archer keeps them at a distance and fires ebony or dragon arrows at them. It helps to have a companion, but if you are high enough level you won't need one. Mine's at level 62 and dances around them, spamming arrows. They have good loot, so be sure to collect.

They throw fire and are made out of vulcan fire so if you use any frost spell on them, obviously is the opposite to fire and will damage them and probably kill them. Ice Spear is the best but when I fight my enemies, I don’t really care that much about using magic against them except paralyze which is the one I use the most. Try Ice spear and Ice Storm on them and you will see the effect / damage on them.

It sometimes helps to know where they are before they attack you.

Use Detect Life(or Aura Whisper) to spot them while they are still under the ash.
This works for hidden Ash Hoppers as well.

Placing a Frost Rune there damages and slows them up a moment as they rise.
I don`t think they are weak to Frost but at least it appears they aren`t resistant to it as with Fire.

Drinking a potion made with Fire Salts , Moon Sugar , and Snowberries will help protect from Fire as well as restoring and regenerating Magicka for your icy assaults.

I`m on Xbox so can`t be certain , but it APPEARS that Shock spells or Shock weapon enchants reduce the number of Fire Balls the Ash Spawn toss at you when you are fighting them at range.
I suspect they need their own magicka pool in order to cast spells and Shock depletes that.

Yea, just spent 1/2 an hour finding and killing them. As far as damage done to them, frost isn't any more effectice than lightning. You sure you don't have the Augmented Ice perk or a piece of armor/jewelry that magnifies frost damage?

Throw water at them.
